Emotional Dependency (Subconscious)- When a person has excessive or extreme hope and desire to have things or people bring them emotional comfort and stability because they feel hopeless or unable to give themselves the type of comfort or stability wanted. Often the person believes or expects that other people or things have to act or behave in a manner that will reassure them that they are worth something because their true sense of SELF is not present or has not been trained to reassure themselves and recognize that they have significant self-worth.

Emotional Independence (Conscious)- When a person is free from feeling responsible to be the caretaker for other people's emotions and actions to maintain a relationship with others. Also, when a person is not relying upon others or things to rescue them from emotional distress to feel capable of handling difficult situations. Emotionally Independent people can allow others to explore and exercise their freedom without giving in to the excessive desire to rescue others from potentially harmful decisions or situations.

Not just for parents of teens

I have learned so much from this podcast! I am grandma to 3 littles so you don’t need to have teens in your home to benefit from the lessons taught here.

Literally a life saving podcast

A friend recommended this to me when I was desperately in need of finding resources for parenting teens. I had no idea how much more than that this podcast actually was. Now I tell everyone about it, write Facebook posts about it, and basically annoy anyone who will listen. Most of my phone notes are quotes I wrote down from these podcasts. I started going to therapy because of what I was learning here. I could not be more grateful for the invaluable information and thought provoking discussions. More importantly, I feel these podcasts have changed my core attitude and beliefs about parenting. Even when I don’t know exactly what to do or say in a situation, I feel almost “podcast brainwashed” (ha ha!) into speaking and reaching out to my kids in more loving, less judgmental, less reactionary ways. It has CHANGED me. Which has also changed my kids. Light the Fight is changing my world.

Thank you’s are not enough

I lost my sister 3 years to suicide and my teen had an attempted suicide a 2 years and three months ago September. When I heard about your podcast I was so heartbroken for you and yet I feel God brings people in our life to help to bring your focus back to Him. Your words have helped me so much as we walk this journey of recovery for my daughter and our family. I tell everyone I know about the words and stories and ways to help each other I have found in your podcast. Thank you for being real and raw and plainly out here for us. ♥️. Please keep doing what you are doing. And know it helps those of us that need it most and don’t even know it yet. Sending love and prayers to you. It especially loved listening to you and Eric and all you have learned. Praying for my husband to learn too Wishing he would listen. Praying her does someday.
