On September 7th, 1940, more than German bombers and 617 fighter planes crossed the English Channel with London directly in their sights. It was the beginning of the "The Blitz" - a period of airborne terror when Hitler tried to break the will of the British people through persistent bombing of London and other cities. This is the story of that dark chapter in London's history - and how despite Hitler's best efforts, the city proved its resilient spirit couldn't be broken.
