Sherry is a great interviewer. The guests are interesting, intelligent people, and it's an original focused concept in a sea of meandering podcasts. Great for comedy and music fans alike.
Not Impressed

pretty boring content here...have heard better....and for a comedian I expected to laugh more and less laughing at your own jokes! A little more knowledge on music/music history and less ranting about would help!
Good stuff.

Very detailed, informative and funny. Discussions about music without the pretentiousness that, lets be honest, music discussions sometimes have.
Fun, intelligent, and real--recommended!

Pianist/radio pioneer Glenn Gould realized that people are more interesting when discussing subjects other than the ones that made them noteworthy: "The most illuminating disclosures derive from areas only indirectly related to the interviewee's line of work.... It's been far more instructive to talk with Pablo Casals, for example, about the concept of the zeitgeist... Or to Leopold Stokowski about the prospect for interplanetary travel." Louder than Bombs takes this philosophy to heart. Rather than comics giving rehearsed answers to scripted questions, Louder than Bombs allows both guest and host to be much more real than is typical in the stiff "two people chatting" format. Taking guests a bit out of their comfort zones allows them to be spontaneously insightful and funny. Guests come across as much more culturally-literate than they would in the usual rehearsed sound bites. Host Sherry Parnes is herself charming, intelligent, and funny, but still gives the guests ample space to lead the show in interesting new directions. While the typical interviewer is fed information about the subject minutes before showtime, Sherry has a real knowledge of the people, the craft of comedy, and the history of popular music and culture. She is also adept at keeping the show moving forward, and not simply degenerating into a series of inside jokes or references that leave the audience in the dark. Highly recommended!
