Lyra Caltabiano

Lyra Caltabiano is a Melbourne-based singer, songwriter, and producer known for her unique blend of pop and electronic sounds with indie influences. Inspired by artists like David Bowie and St. Vincent, she began her musical journey at six with piano, later picking up the double bass at twelve. Lyra studied at the Victorian College of the Arts and Melbourne Polytechnic, earning a Bachelor of Songwriting and Music Production. After a break in 2017 for mental health, she returned to music with renewed creativity. As a transgender woman, her work reflects her personal journey, adding authenticity to her artistry.In honor of Trans Awareness Month, we are reminded of the importance of elevating the voices and stories of the trans and gender-diverse communities. This November, Queering The Air will focus its programming on TGDNB (Trans, Gender Diverse, Non-Binary) topics, featuring a range of guests who will engage in essential discussions about identity, migration, and belonging.
