Focusing Your Passion to Create a Life You Love with Remiah Alleyne

#20: This week I chat with Remiah Alleyne, who is a black solo female traveler and Canadian teacher expat living abroad in Abu Dabi who focuses on showcasing hidden gems, unique destinations, and budget friendly travel around a 9-5 schedule. Bridging the gap between solo and group travel, Remiah seeks to inspire other women of color to explore the world. She’s hosting a group trip to Egypt this December, so December 2024 where traverlers can come together to explore Cairo, Luxor, and more! Of course, I’ll link to everything in the show notes so you can check out the details on that- but right now there is still an early bird discount- so if you’re interested, make sure you take advantage of that limited time deal! We get into: Remiah’s passion for teaching and some of the perks of teaching abroad, specifically in the UAE, what the requirements and application process look like, and how she’s able to work a ton of travel into her busy, demanding schedule Some of the differences in solo and group travel A few of Remiah’s favorite underrated places around the world We also get really honest about the time and energy commitment that side hustles, passion projects, and starting businesses while still working full-time actually take and some of the challenges we each have and continue to face in navigating and balancing life, work, and travel. We talk about the importance of getting specific on your goals and vision and directing your energy and passion in a more focused, strategic, and purposeful way. As well as, the importance of honoring what feels safe and secure for you financially while you’re trying to build a business or pursue other means of generating revenue than your current employment. Find everything Remiah's working on here! DON'T FORGET Season 2 comes out in September 2024, so follow the show on Instagram to stay in-the-know and for awesome content in the meantime, obviously.

Starting a Podcast and the Importance of Community with Janessa Klatt

#19: This week I chat with Janessa Klatt, who is a fully nomadic Podcast Manager with a TON of travel under her belt and what I think is a really interesting and motivational journey to manifesting the lifestyle she wants! We get into her journey of taking an adult gap year, and then actually using that as spring board into a location-independent lifestyle; some interesting avenues Janessa took in her pursuit to continue financing life abroad before settling into the digital nomad space. We talk about the ability to utilize online resources in order to effectively teach yourself new skills to open the door to potential opportunities that maybe you haven’t thought of, that can help you create the lifestyle you desire. We also get into some things to consider if you’re thinking about starting a podcast, what the process looks like, and some of the challenges we’ve each experienced along the way. We talk about the importance of community, finding your tribe of like-minded people who get what you’re trying to accomplish and the lifestyle you’re creating, and how to build and maintain those meaningful relationships on-the-road, as well as co-living, remote year, and other options for sharing space, expenses, and experiences with like-minded adventurers during your travels. You can check out Janessa's website here! Also, seriously, go listen to Zero to Travel. Thank me later. Intuitive Travel- Solo Style with Mickelle Sleyster

#18: This week I had the pleasure of chatting with Mickelle Sleyster. She is a digital nomad, and full-time content creator in the solo-travel space who has traveled to over 34 countries and counting and who is currently based in Valencia, Spain. As you can guess, we get into solo travel and the importance of building self-confidence to mitigate some of the loneliness and other potential downsides or challenges to the solo nomadic lifestyle. We talk about Intuitive travel, which Mickelle defines as recognizing what your body is telling you and actually paying attention and listening to your gut instincts and getting quiet enough so that you can really hear how your intuition is trying to guide you, as well as mindset hacking or questioning and even challenging your beliefs and gaining a deeper understanding of why you think the way you do and which of your beliefs may not actually be true and could be limiting your potential. We discuss Spain’s Digital Nomad Visa and all the perks of Mickelle’s homebase setup in Valencia, Spain, solo-road-tripping around New Zealand, and Mickelle’s expert advice for a Spain and Protugal trip- YES, I selfishly asked for her tips for my own travel plans and she absolutely delivered, so if you’ve ever thought about traveling to either or both of those places, you’re at the right place. Human Design and Self-Development with Astrid Heystee

#17: This week, I’m sharing a conversation I had with Astrid Heystee. She is a Business & Human Design Coach who blends her expertise in business, marketing, and personal development. Starting her location-independent journey in 2018, she learned the hard way that you need to listen to your body and underwent a transformative period of inner work when Human Design crossed her path. With her Human Design embodiment workshops, coaching programs, and her podcast "Travel & Work with Human Design," she empowers fellow entrepreneurs with a holistic approach that intertwines health, mindset, inner work and business strategy in the creation of a stress-free lifestyle. We get into her introduction to the digital nomad lifestyle and some of the ups and downs she’s experienced along her journey. We talk about Human Design and how exploring your chart can help you identify your strengths and ultimately better align with your authenticity and make for an enhanced experience in travel, business, and life, as well as the self-development process we each focus on in our personal lives and in our businesses, and the importance of making small changes in the pursuit of self-discovery and a greater sense of self-reliance and self-trust.  Check out your chart here!
