The Shropshire Good Food Trail celebrates growers, makers, sellers and servers across the county that are producing food that is good for people, place and planet. The Shropshire Good Food Trail is a celebration of our county’s rural heritage: to highlight Shropshire’s smaller-scale, more regenerative farmers and artisan producers and the shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants that support them. The Shropshire Good Food Trail invites visitors and Salopians alike into the countryside and across the county for a series of events, talks, farm visits, and open-doors.     Marches Real Food & Farming Conference

    This podcast reflects what happened at the first ever Marches Real Food and Farming conference, which took place in September 2023. Organised by the Shropshire Good Food Partnership, the aim was to bring together local and national scientists, farmers, growers and chefs in a diverse and exciting programme focused on creating a regenerative, and future proof, food and farming system in the region and further afield. In this podcast, you'll hear from some of the speakers involved in the conference and those who attended. You’ll hear what the future looks like for the Shropshire Good Food Partnership, which involves looking at food system transformation, and the plan on how to engage stakeholders to make that happen. BEST MOMENTS Jenny Rouquette, partnership lead for Shropshire Good Food Partnership - ‘We're organising roundtable discussions, we're bringing speakers into engage with local farmer groups and really looking at how we can continue to enable collaboration and to support each other and build a community around local food system transformation.’ Josiah Meldrum, Co Founder of Hodmedod - ‘The important thing about events like this are the bringing together of people, and it's relationships and people that build change and opportunities to bring people together from all across the food system, whether they're schools and hospitals and people that are buying food, whether it's farmers that are growing it or whether it's householders that are eating it.’ Chris Smage, farmer, social scientist and one of the speakers at the conference - ‘I think the real key thing is to connect farmers and growers with the wider public’ Sara Grady of British Pasture Leather - ‘We are producing leather from the hides of cattle raised on regenerative farms and offering that material to brands and designers. We are very much in the position of educating them about the real truth about material and the fact that leather originates on farms and comes essentially from our food system.’ ABOUT THE SHROPSHIRE GOOD FOOD PARTNERSHIP Shropshire Good Food Partnership has been formed with a vision to create a local food system that is 'good for people, place and planet'.    The aim is to bring together Shropshire's most switched-on food producers, retailers and consumers to make Shropshire's food system more resilient, sustainable and fair.
