Keeping It Real, With Erinn and Oliver Hudson

Keeping It Real, With Erinn and Oliver Hudson

Very few couples are as honest and refreshing as Erinn and Oliver. In this episode, the two couples commiserate about everything from trust in marriage, to how hard consistency is in parenting, and why perfection is such a scam. Oliver gets real about what it was like coming clean to Erinn early in their marriage about his infidelity, how it almost broke him, and how they've been able to talk about it so openly now that they have such a strong, solid partnership. Erinn talks about what it was like to receive that shocking news, and how they were able to rebuild after this huge reveal. Their relationship is a testament to what can happen when two people decide to go "all in" and do whatever it takes to heal. Also, why it's so absurd that we say "til death do us part" in our vows, but neglect to discuss how committing to one person for our entire lives comes with inevitable hardships and mistakes.

"Were You Raised By Wolves?" with Nick Leighton and Leah Bonnema

"Were You Raised By Wolves?" with Nick Leighton and Leah Bonnema

In this light, fun episode just in time for the holiday season, Danielle and Adam ask the hosts of this popular "etiquette-ish" podcast about everything from tipping, to regifting, to what to do when you seriously just don't want to go to that party. Danielle reveals what weird thing happened when she neglected to send a thank you note to an older member of her extended family after having her first child, and Adam asks if it's ok for customers to just leave their crap all over the aisles. Are snail-mail thank you notes ever going to be a thing of the past? Is it rude to invite guests to a party that starts way too late at night? Listen to hear Danielle and Adam find out if their thoughts on these topics are appropriate, or just plain incorrect.

    Yes, ADHD is VERY real

    Yes, ADHD is VERY real

    TW: Mention of suicidal thoughts.
In one of their most vulnerable episodes, Danielle and Adam sit down to discuss the impact that ADHD has had on their family. While currently fully in the thick of this journey, opening up about this struggle was not easy, but it is something they know could help so many others. Having a daughter and a son who struggle, Danielle and Adam reveal the deep heartbreak that has fully consumed them as parents for the past year. However, they also feel so lucky and grateful to have the platform and connections to research and to advocate for their kids. They offer ideas and steps that will help other families who are also figuring out this oftentimes misunderstood diagnosis. Some of what they discuss:

Adam's diagnosis at age 17 and how it affected him in school, and how it currently affects him as an adult. How their son and daughter's ADHD manifest in such different ways, and how that has made it all the more confusing to understand. The pain of watching kids struggle because of the lack of understanding and education concerning ADHD.What they want other parents, as well as kids' peers to understand about how to actively support, include and accept someone despite their differences. The other, more positive side of ADHD, and the incredible traits those who experience it oftentimes possess. Why a 504 or IEP won't necessarily help their son with his form of ADHD.Ways we can all be more empathetic, supportive, and inclusive humans to the Neurodiverse community.
Whether a person is impacted personally by ADHD, raising a child who has been diagnosed or is awaiting an evaluation, or someone simply wants to better understand how to be an ally to those who present as "different" in some way, this is definitely an episode that is well worth the listen.

So relatable

Danielle and Adam are so funny, real and relatable. I love their banter and how seamlessly they go from joking to getting nitty gritty with topics. Their honesty about their relationship, parenthood, and that they are still figuring out their own identities independent of those 2 things, is spot on. We all have struggles and they normalize these in a society that tends to push us to only portray the highlight reel. So so refreshing, thank you both!
