The filing deadline for the 2024 Chapter Elections is Wednesday, May 8 (https://navajoelections.navajo-nsn.gov)
Missing Navajo People: 27-year-old Twilena Rose Begay; 43-year-old Celena Anne Manygoats.

13-year-old Cari Lightner was struck by a drunk driver in 1980 leading to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD).

I signed a $864,000 intergovernmental agreement with the New Mexico Indian Affairs Department for the Navajo Code Talker Museum.
I signed a $425,000 service contract between NDOT and a Navajo contractor for N8073 near Pinon, AZ.
I signed a proclamation recognizing Teacher Appreciation Week May 6 through May 10.
I signed a $5 million grant agreement with Navajo Nation Oil & Gas Co. to bring a convenience store to Lupton, AZ.

7. Major Projects I am Working On


In the ongoing Pinyon Plains mining issue, I signed a resolution to urge U.S. leadership to halt uranium ore transport across Navajo Nation lands.
Water Projects: I signed legislation approving $2.5 million in water line extensions for Rock Point, Rough Rock, and Kin Dah Lichii families.
Train derailment in Lupton on Friday, April 26.
In supporting chapters, I approved $4.8 million from the Síhásin Fund to rebuild the demolished Cameron Chapter House.

28 Navajo students are graduating from San Juan College and NTU's PNM Navajo Nation Workforce Scholarship program.
We celebrated the San Tan Charter's boys basketball 2A championship team at the office.
The 2024-2025 Miss Indian World stopped by the Office of the President and Vice President.

9. Upcoming Events in the Coming Week


Groundbreaking for the office building in Crownpoint, N.M.
This Saturday is the 41st Shiprock Marathon and Dash-4-Cash Horse Race.
On Monday, I will meet the New Mexico Secretary of Veterans Affairs Jamison Herrera.
I will be in Washington, D.C. for federal meetings and provide testimony to Congress.
