Episode 4: Stephen O'Brien

Our guest for this episode began his working life as the fourth-generation flour miller and baker in his family. To complement his hands-on training, Stephen O’Brien completed a tertiary degree in Commerce before undertaking further study with the Australian Institute of Company Directors. His combined experiences have allowed him to hold key roles with several listed, privately owned and private equity-based organisations. He has successfully led both food and beverage businesses in all states and territories throughout Australia. Additionally, Stephen has held executive and directorship roles with international companies in the USA, Middle East, Asia Pacific and across the African continent. Stephen is now the CEO of Mort & Co, Australia’s largest privately-owned beef cattle lot feeding, management and marketing company, and a leading exporter of premium Australian beef.

Our guest for this episode has more than thirty years’ experience working in the health service industry. Frank Tracey has a background in nursing and holds advanced qualifications in both health and management. His extensive experience in health commissioning and provision in clinical and community settings is complemented by strong managerial and leadership skills, and an applied interest in translational health research. While working in both government and non-government roles, Frank has focused on delivering sustainable health strategies that serve the best interests of patients, health professionals, the broader health system and the community. Frank is currently the Chief Executive of Children’s Health Queensland.

Our guest for this episode has over thirty-years experience in local government including as Mayor for Millmerran Shire Council and now, as Mayor for Toowoomba Regional Council. Paul Antonio leads the region at a time of intense growth and development having just completed Toowoomba’s second range crossing whilst advocating for Toowoomba to have a part to play in some of the nation's biggest infrastructure projects such as inland rail. Paul is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, serves on a number of board positions and is a White Ribbon Ambassador.

Our guest for this episode has over twenty years’ experience in human resources. She’s worked for Deloitte in Human Capital and Change Management Consulting on transformational projects in energy, resources, tertiary and public sector engagements. She has also held human resources roles with Suncorp, and the Australian Government. As the Chief People Officer for Heritage Bank Margo Dewar is responsible for the bank's overall human resources strategy, leading this function across recruitment, learning and development, employee relations, health and safety, organisational development and change management.
