Media Club Plus
Welcome to Media Club Plus: a podcast about diving into the media that interests us and the stories that excite us, as always we are brought to you by Friends at the Table. This season, we're watching 2011's Hunter x Hunter, based on the manga by Yoshihiro Togashi

Obviously the secret of Media Club Plus is that the name is an anagram. Next season they’ll “Mud Up Iceballs”, or some “Subduple Claim”, before revealing the “Camel Buildups” that were in the works all along. This podcast is the perfect synthesis of its parts and no “Duplicable Sum”.
The Show’s Good Y’all!!!

March reporting for duty! I have literally never touched Apple Podcasts before in my life, but I must heed the sacred call. My girlfriend and I started listening to Media Club Plus together, and we made it maybe 5 episodes in before I decided I needed to watch HxH for myself. I’ve now watched the entire series (and caught up with the manga) and it has completely changed my personality. It’s all I think about. My friend group has a discord server; me and the friends who have seen the show were talking about it so much that we were banished to a separate HxH channel. I’ve tried to convince them to get matching spider tattoos. I’m unwell. Media Club Plus deserves 5 stars just for introducing me to my new favorite show. HOWEVER, it would be an injustice to say that was the only reason Media Club Plus deserves 5 stars. This podcast is a joy to listen to. The hosts’ brilliant analysis of the show helps me to see it in new, exciting ways. I’m equally thrilled to hear them say something I’ve thought before as I am to hear a completely new take that hadn’t occurred to me. The deep dives into the soundtrack are especially fun and enlightening as someone who knows nothing about music or scoring. And yet, despite all of this Serious Media Analysis, MC never fails to be uproariously funny. I go in to every new episode knowing I’m going to have a good time. Do yourself a favor and listen to this podcast. You absolutely will not regret it. PS: Sylvie, I’ve seen on Twitter that you visit Portland from time to time. If you’re ever back in town, can we hang out at the worker owned, queer, commie bar near my house and talk about the Phantom Troupe PLEASE every moment I am not talking about the Phantom Troupe is a waste
Blakes everywhere love Media Club Plus
11 oct.
I was loading the dish washer at 1 am when I heard Keith mention the previous episode’s request to all “Mitchells” for reviews. I wondered if there was a chance that the “Blakes” would ever be called. “No”, I thought to myself, “there’s too many names, I should just write a review and not wait for my number to be called.” But in that moment, Austin felt my resignation and I was summoned (presumably some entity in the demon world aided me (listen to the show to learn about demon and angel world theory)). Anyways, I love Hunter x Hunter, and I appreciate it even more now thanks to your takes and musings. Y’all refuse to miss. The insightful comments, the musical breakdowns, and Jack being clairvoyant are consistently entertaining. Jack’s perfect note “I fear for Goreinu” has a permanent place in my mind. Also I got my wife listening to y’all, because although she doesn’t listen to a ton of podcasts and she’s not familiar with FatT, she LOVES Hunter x Hunter. When she said that she gave the podcast a listen and was continuing to listen on her commute, I was shocked and delighted! But I shouldn’t be surprised, cuz y’all are delightful and my wife has good taste. 5 star podcast, 5 star runtime.
When a podcast says your name you gotta give em the stars
10 oct.
As a Mitchell who never found my name on any souvenir keychain (Michael’s are living the good life), hearing the entire cast speak directly to me was a feeling of joy that can only be surpassed by the delight that their discussion of hxh brings. Insightful commentary, bold predictions, and genuinely funny bits that you only get from listening to good friends having fun – this is a must listen podcast for first time or return hxh viewers
