Mental Health and the JED Foundation with Dr. Phyllis Florian, Abby Padilla, and Paul Condry
Dr. Phyllis Florian is a clinical psychologist who recently joined Holy Cross College as the Director of Mental Health and Wellness. She has experience in private practice, community mental health, social services, wellness initiatives, and previous collegiate counseling settings. Phyllis has five children, three of whom have supported collegiate athletics through university marching bands.
Abby Padilla is a senior at holy cross college and Public relations co- chair, as well as Social Concerns co-chair. She is a first-generation student from Albuquerque, New Mexico. Her extra curriculars include President of Latinos Unidos, VP of Political Science Society, Men’s soccer manager. She is also on the cheer team and is a member of the JED Foundation committee in helping to prevent suicide and learning more about mental illness. The JED Foundation is extremely important to her because people love and see you regardless of the problems you face. I understand how suffocating life can feel as she has suffered from mental illness and has also been in that low of a position in life. However, she sees life a true gift and wants to make sure that her fellow students find support in their struggles in times of need and value to gift of life.
