Mike Michalowicz Shares Why Every Business Needs a DM
Best-selling business author and advocate for entrepreneurs, Mike Michalowicz, joins Dawn Brolin, CPA, CFE, to talk about finding the motivation to comeback from set backs. He details his own struggles and why his mission is to eradicate entrepreneurial poverty. He also gives Dawn tips on how to run a successful podcast...Michalowicz style!
As Mike says: "If you have an idea or an offering that you know can help others in business or otherwise, it’s your duty to get it out there. Critics will always be around, but they’re not the doers, they won’t be the helpers. You will. Whatever you do, don’t give up on yourself. Go for your dreams."
In addition, Mike shared his take on the impact of being a Designated Motivator as he did in the foreword to Dawn Brolin's The Designated Motivator book:
As a DM you will help define the highest purpose of your organization and align the entire team around it. The purpose won’t be “to achieve more shareholder profits” or “to provide proficient service,” although those will be natural outcomes. Your purpose will be something that resonates throughout the organization and motivates everyone.
As a DM you will increase the happiness, joy and positive energy of your organization and yourself. It won’t be through inauthentic “I’m good enough, I’m smart enough, and gosh darn it, people like me, ” Stuart Smalley affirmations. Instead, you will leverage the DM tools that bring natural happiness and positive energy, authentically.
As a DM you will experience great productivity and output from your work team and others in your community. You will not need to “whip people into shape” or “micro-manage employees.” Instead, you will channel the long lasting effects of self-motivation and aspiration that DMs bring out of the people around them (including themselves).
And as a DM, you will create transformational, life-altering experiences for yourself and others.
