Mojo Girl Madness is an evergreen podcast - it will speak to you even if you've found it well after it's posted. It will motivate you to expand your mind and better shape your life. Mojo and her guests will inspire you to think differently, take action, or just be a little more comfortable in this truly mad world. Episode topics include Sex, Identity, Authenticity, Career, Love, Friendship, Fears, Politics, Religion, Education, Parenting, Reinvention, and showbiz (cuz I'm a TV Director/Producer and have a few thoughts, stories and guests from The Biz). It's a MAD pod and kind all over the place, but that's ok...we're ALL all over the place these days, right? Some episodes are with guests (from a sexologist to a Cold War spy!), some are solo rants on what's making me mad in the world, some are personal stories. Hope you enjoy - it's a great binge from start to finish! If you want to know more about Mojo, listen to the first episode: WHO TF IS MOJO? Then, you're off to the races! If you have a question or comment, you can reach Mojo directly at iammojogirl@gmail.com. You can also visit mojogirlmadness.com Finally, please help a Fellow Mojo out and hit that subscribe/favorite/follow button.

What Exactly IS Mojo & Why All the Outrage?

What Exactly IS Mojo & Why All the Outrage?

It’s the final episode of Mojo Girl Madness (unless I do another season at some point) and we’ve got a rant or two, a few raves and recommendations, and some all-important resolutions. We’ll also discuss the definition of MOJO – and what helps build it up!

Note: this episode may start with a teensy rant on the phrase "Happy Holidays," but it's an evergreen episode that's worth hearing any time, any day, any year. Enjoy!

    Our Bodies, Our Insanity

    Our Bodies, Our Insanity

If I could add back into my life every minute I’ve spent obsessing about my weight, I’d live another 20 years... So, what’s a Mojo Girl to do? We’re supposed to love ourselves for who we are, not for what we look like, right? Well, that’s super difficult for me. How about you? Let’s discuss.

    Understanding Parents

    Understanding Parents

When we’re forced to look at our parents as people, often flawed people, there are usually things about them we must...reckon with.

I’ve done a lot of reckoning over the years about my parents, mostly in an effort to find reasons why they did what they did, made the choices they made, and behaved as they behaved – and about how all of that went into who I am as a person.

All that thinking about my parents finally lead me to place of understanding, sympathy and ultimately forgiveness.

These thoughts about my parents are incredibly personal, but I think still universal. I hope you take away from this podcast thoughts of your own parents, and how they helped shape you and your life.

Old Friends Talk About Life, Part Two

Old Friends Talk About Life, Part Two

THIS IS PART TWO of your feel-good and thought-provoking episode with two of the most wonderful people anywhere: Elaine Williams and Ricky Day.

Normally Elaine, Ricky and I would be chatting over margaritas at El Coyote in Hollywood, California, when Ricky’s visiting from New York. This time it’s a virtual chat -  but the discussion is just as compelling - and we’re still drinking margaritas! Join us!

We cover everything from the pursuit of happiness to politics, equality, God, getting older, and dancing on a Soul Train line.

Elaine Williams is an internationally recognized Senior Acting Instructor specializing in the Meisner Technique at the Joanne Baron/DW Brown Studio in Santa Monica, CA. Her classes, along with those of all instructors, are now available via Zoom. Please visit BaronBrown.com

Ricky Day is an award-winning visual artist, photographer, and filmmaker working primarily with themes related to identity, pop-culture and the African American experience. He lives and works in Harlem, New York. RickyDayStudio.com

Normally, we’d be chatting over margaritas at El Coyote in Hollywood, when Ricky’s visiting from New York. This time it’s a virtual happy hour, but the discussion is just as compelling. We cover everything from our days as tour guides at Universal Studios and Ricky being Michael Jackson’s stand-in on Thriller, to what pronouns we’re using, racism, diversity in casting and self-love, God & religion, the pursuit of happiness and Elaine’s parents being married by Martin Luther King, Jr.

This week’s and next week's are episodes we probably all need to listen to a couple of times...

Irreverent and engaging

First of all Katy’s voice sounds amazing! She’s irreverent, engaging, and unapologetically opinionated. Despite all of this you sorta sense she doesn’t necessarily take herself too seriously either. I’m digging the journey so far and I’m ready for more Mojo!

Thought provoking

Great podcast! Very relatable topics that are real and raw.

A voice you can relate too.

Really enjoyed every second. Learned so much and felt even more. I truly think this is a podcast for people out there who need to be reminded that we aren’t alone in the world.
