    142. Choosing Struggle Over Comfort

You all must know by now how much I love to draw parallels between business and life, and today’s episode is no different as I reflect on something powerful that happened recently with my daughter. Specifically I’ll be talking about how letting yourself and those you lead struggle and face challenges actually gives them the opportunity to grow and strengthen the ability to persevere in the future. I’ll be sharing the science behind this concept from another podcast I was inspired by and I’ll leave you with 3 things you can do to set yourself up for success! So let’s choose the challenge of uncomfort together, and watch how it changes your mindset for the better!

    Episode Highlights:
    • [2:15] -  Not being able to help my daughter face something challenging, but realizing the positive outcomes of this moment, similar to other areas as a business owner.
    • [8:50] - Do we let those we lead struggle so they have the opportunity to rise again?
    • [10:35] - The science behind how the willingness to persevere and to do a task that is unpleasant or challenging literally grows and strengthens our brains.
    • [17:55] - Are we choosing struggle over comfort?
    • [19:29] - 3 Takeaways I’ve learned you can reflect on to grow too!
    • [23:30] - Leaning into past experiences to help you navigate new challenges, even when they are unrelated.

    138. Making Tough Decisions: Ego or Data

    138. Making Tough Decisions: Ego or Data

We all have to make hard decisions in our lives, but I truly feel that the more we talk about them with others, the more we can help each other out in different ways through these real life moments. Today I want to share with you a key framework I use to base how I make difficult decisions with logic when emotions can get in the way. I’ve specifically used this within my business and career, but can also be applied to your personal life if needed! I’ve provided great questions for you to reflect on in the highlights below, and strongly encourage you to take the time after this episode to go through them so you can ultimately take MORE ACTION!

    Episode Highlights:
    • [4:35] - Relying on gut feeling and intuition at the start of your business, but slowly moving to looking back on experience and evidence the more you grow.
    • [8:05] - First way to make decisions- Reflection based questions:
What would I need or what would need to happen to make my decision be true? Or false?Does this decision get me closer to my goal or does it pull me away? How does this decision affect the people or clients I am serving?Who is preventing me from making the decision? What is stopping me?• [11:55] - “Invert, always invert,” by taking your decisions and flipping them upside down to look at the possible outcomes of making it or not.
    • [13:30] - Second way to make decisions: Data taken towards your business and/or goal.
    • [16:28] - Looking for your data will help you understand how to allocate resources and remove the ego from making tough decisions for your business in the future.
    • [18:55] Sharing a recent decision made in our business using this method.

    137. The Debate: Form vs. Function

    137. The Debate: Form vs. Function

Is there something you are holding yourself back from finally executing because you are so distracted by the "perfect" methods and strategies to get there? In this episode, I’ll be sharing something fun I learned recently about the principle of design: Form vs. Function. I’ll explain the background of where the term comes from and how this can directly relate to succeeding at your business or goals in life. Stick around for the end where I’ll provide some reflective questions, so you can start to take more of that messy ACTION and let go of the unnecessary worries keeping you from your potential!

    Episode Highlights:
    • [2:51] - The definition of what form and function are relating to architecture and when it comes to purpose in your life.
    • [5:35] - Form answers the questions of What and How, while function answers the Why.
    • [6:30] - Why we stop or fail to start things that are challenging, along with 2 real world examples and how I took my own imperfect action.
    • [12:45 ] - 3 Questions to ask and reflect on in order to focus on function and make your goals happen!
