Mrs. Maggie Inouye

Senator Inouye Told By His Son

Behind a man with big dreams is a wife with a vision.  Mrs. Maggie Inouye was key to her husband's successful political career.   They were a team.  Ahead of her time, Maggie left Hawaii to go to New York in 1946 to attend Columbia University and earn a master's degree, when it was unusual for women to even go to college.  Maggie is credited with running and winning Dan's 1962 election for the US Senate.
