    114. Are You a Financially Independent Musician?

Today we explore the rich world of FI or Financial Independence. We show the various strategies you can apply from this way of life to ease your stress and improve your money habits, allowing you more freedom. THE ALLIANCE FOR LIFETIME INCOME is a non-profit educational organization based in Washington, D.C., that creates awareness and educates Americans about the value and importance of having protected lifetime income in retirement.. The Alliance provides consumers and financial professionals with educational resources, interactive tools, and actionable research and insights to use in building retirement income strategies and plans.  The Alliance was Elton’s first and only non‐profit tour partner and the sole presenting partner of his 2022 Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in North America last year.Together, the Alliance, Elton and his husband David Furnish, CEO of Rocket Entertainment and chairman of the Elton John AIDS Foundation, heard from hundreds of thousands of fans along tour stops. The message was clear –  financial security and planning for the next phase in life are hugely important to them. The couple plans to continue working with the Alliance to have these vital conversations throughout 2023.“It’s important that we all take the steps needed to ensure financial freedom in our lives, to follow our own yellow brick road,” said Furnish. “Though Elton and I have been fortunate, the need to save, protect and plan for the future are universal principles and the same for all of us. Our continued partnership with the Alliance for Lifetime Income furthers our mission to stand for human dignity at every stage of life.”Learn more at https://www.protectedincome.org/ What if part of the problem or perhaps the biggest challenge we face as musicians isn’t the money we struggle to bring, but what's happening with the money we do have and how it can build foundations when not wasted on pickle shots and designer jeans?  What if you're putting too much energy into the wrong areas of your business? 113. We are your Co-Workers with Mike Maurer

Today we complete our chat with front range blues musician Mike Maurer.  We discuss the journey we take to finding our style, showing the market your value and keeping your heart on the most important part of being a musician. “All the money and all the details will go away, what really matters is how you make people feel” - Mike Maurer Mike Maurer is a Colorado based musician who began playing guitar at a very early age, studying with Jock Bartley of the hit band, Firefall. After his debut release, Chasing Pearl , Mike toured extensively, sharing the stage with acts such as Johnny Winter, Eric Gales, Tab Benoit, Earth Wind and Fire, Richie Kotzen and Papa Chubby. His long awaited follow up album is set for release in fall 2024. Aside from endorsements and regional awards, Mike is an excellent and seasoned performer, teacher, and all around fun guy to be around.  Let's go! Today's action is to make a short list.  List the top five income stream sources.  Now take the fourth and fifth and let’s come up with two ways to take those revenue streams up in the list.  This shouldn’t mean spend a lot more time doing these. The answer should be in how to show those areas more of your value so it can increase.  An easy example is with our discussion of the tip jar QR code to multiple tip options. This instantly showed results for me and I believe it will for any of your performing musicians out there too! https://mikemaurermusic.com/ Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/musicians-tip-jar--4698023/support.

    109. How to Multiply Your Time as a Musician

This long journey and pursuit of being a full-time musician is full of growth, plateaus, dips and more growth.  But there is a point when the path begins to need more to keep up the pace, grow, and truly level up. Today we discuss the concept of Multiplying your time, how it applies to musicians and our efforts to 10x this life… “You will never ‘find’ time for anything. If you want time, you must make it.” -Charles Buxton The Great River Folk Festival is the longest running nonprofit music festival in La Crosse, Wisconsin. The Mission of the Great River Folk Festival is to celebrate and cultivate folk culture rooted in the Driftless Region by uniting independent artists and community.Vision: We aim to nurture community through inclusive outreach for all ages as we curate experiential celebrations of folk arts inLa Crosse, WI and the surrounding area. Learn more at: https://www.greatriverfolkfest.org/ Where you put your attention is where you put your energy.  This is always an important reality to grasp. But taking it one step further, if you could put a system in place so that initial attention is kept on various projects independent of you so that you can then put your inner energy on the next thing, well, that's multiplying yourself, your energy, and your results. Think of it like throwing a snowball down the hill with all your energy. You make five well structured snowballs and strategically place them so you give them all a push, and they all grow as they move down that hill getting bigger and bigger as they roll. They will now all have a bigger impact, and all with less work and energy from you!  Let's jump in deeper on multiplying your time as a musician!  As always, Thanks for joining us and remember, there is already enough for everyone, you just need to know how to get it.  Until next time, on behalf of Dave Tamkin and myself, Chris Webb,  Stay happy, healthy and wealthy.  Spend time on things today that will give you 10x more in the years to come and you will always be at the top.  This is Musicians Tip Jar. 108. Talent Stacking for Musicians

If there is anything you have heard us say too many times it's that diversification is key to creating a wealthy musician’s income. We go at that goal from a different angle today.  Instead of spreading out your talents, we stack ‘em up! This has been a very useful technique for me personally to increase my productivity and value in the music business and I think it can do the same for you! “The idea of a talent stack is that you can combine ordinary skills until you have enough of the right kind to be extraordinary.” - Scott Adams The Creative Music Guild is a Portland, Oregon all-volunteer, non-profit organization whose mission is to promote experimental, improvised music by presenting concerts, workshops and other events that bring together internationally recognized musicians with local performers, audiences and music students of all ages. For over twenty years, the CMG has been a leader in cultivating Portland’s experimental and improvised music. Learn more at creativemusicguild.org Talent stacking is the concept of combining several average or above-average skills to create a unique and valuable skill set that sets you apart from others. The idea is that you don't need to be world-class in any single skill; instead, by being competent in multiple complementary skills, you can create a unique combination that makes you highly competitive and valuable in your field. If you find this information useful, please rate, subscribe to the podcast, and like this video if you’re on YouTube. So we can help keep you up on the financial side of your music business. As always, Thanks for joining us and remember, there is already enough for everyone, you just need to know how to get it.  Until next time, on behalf of Dave Tamkin and myself, Chris Webb. Stay happy, healthy and wealthy. Your mom has probably already told you this but just a reminder, no one stacks up to you!
