My-crobes and Your-crobes

The Lifeline Project

The Lifeline project is a podcast exploring the science and process behind the musical, Lifeline, a show about antibiotics, Alexander Fleming, and the biggest current global health crisis you might never have heard of.

The first episode is a potted history of the show and it's principal cast members - not the actors, the microbes that help make their bodies function. From the pathogens that make us sick to our microbiomes which help us digest food and fight disease, we look at the different tiny creatures that we meet in lives and ask, how do they survive, are they all ‘good’ or ‘bad’ and how on earth did we represent them on a stage?

Our guests this week are Maren Hunsberger and Jake M. Robinson.

Maren is a scientist, science communicator, producer and actor who has recently created a show, ‘Fascinating Fails’ for PBS Terra that you can find on their YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/@pbsterra . You can also catch up with Maren on social media @marenhunsberger (or on TikTok @marenmicrobe)

Jake is a scientist, podcaster and author who studies ecosystem restoration and microbial ecology. His first book, ‘Invisible Friends’ is available now and his second book ‘Treewilding’ is on the way. You can get in touch with him via his website https://www.jakemrobinson.com/ or on social media @_jake_robinson
