  1. Heal your dog with herbal home remedies w / expert canine herbalist Rita Hogan

Heal your dog with herbal home remedies w / expert canine herbalist Rita Hogan

In this episode, I sit down with Rita Hogan, an incredible canine herbalist, author, and educator, to dive into the fascinating world of herbal medicine for pets. We explore her decades of experience working with herbs, her journey to becoming a canine herbalist, and the deep wisdom she’s gained from indigenous healing practices, plant energetics, and holistic pet care. This episode is packed with powerful insights on how pet parents and vets alike can bring herbal medicine into their pet care routines in a thoughtful, practical way. We also dig into the emotional and energetic connection between pets and their people—how our stress directly impacts them and how we can support both ourselves and our pets through intentional healing. If you’ve ever wondered how to support your dog with herbs at home, this episode is a must-listen. KEY INSIGHTS: The pivotal moment when Rita realized she was a canine herbalist, even before the title existed. The energetics of food and how they’re changing in our modern world.  How Rita’s book on canine herbalism is the beginners (and advanced) guide you need whether you’re a vet, vet tech, or pet parent.  Rita shares a simple herbal formula for diarrhea for dogs–and how to source the herb you need to make it.  How to bring back a dog's appetite using herbs.  How stress makes us smell like cortisol, triggering a stress response in our dogs (nothing self-care can’t fix.) And how our pets are here to teach us how to heal ourselves.  RESOURCES: You can now pre-order Rita Hogan’s latest book The Herbal Dog https://www.canineherbalist.com/the-herbal-dog-book And you can join the book launch at Integrative Pet Wellness Center (limited spots available) Click here to secure your spot FOLLOW: Rita Hogan: https://www.canineherbalist.com/ Rita Hogan on Instagram: @canineherbalist Integrative Pet Wellness Center on Instagram: @integrativepet Dr. Lily Chen on Instagram: @dr.lilychen Sign up to our newsletter to get more pet health care tips

  3. What Is a Concierge House Call Vet? with Dr. Eve Harrison

    JAN 12

What Is a Concierge House Call Vet? with Dr. Eve Harrison

In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Eve Harrison, an integrative concierge house-call veterinarian based in Los Angeles and the founder of House Call Vet Academy. Together, we dive into what concierge veterinary care looks like and why this hands-on intensive model of care creates better health outcomes and allows pet parents to have a "family vet" with whom they can cultivate a deep bond. Whether you're a devoted pet parent looking for next level health care for your fur baby or a vet curious about this model of care, this episode is for you 💜 KEY INSIGHTS: Why the concierge model is a premium, high-value offering for the most devoted pet parents with the resources to care for their pets at that level. Why slowing down and spending more time with a select few pet parents and their pets leads to better outcomes.  How moving away from a reactive, emergency-driven model of care to a proactive, wellness-focused model has the potential to transform veterinary medicine.  How concierge care fosters meaningful partnerships with pet families and deepens the connection between vets and clients. How by addressing issues in real-time, concierge clients can often avoid emergencies, lightening the load on ER practices. How concierge models allow vets to step away from the high-pressure, high-volume traditional practice to rediscover joy and fulfillment in their work and avoid burnout.  And we dive into the "energetics of money" and how really investing in your pet's health often results in the best outcomes.  RESOURCES: Join the waitlist for the Concierge Membership with Dr. Lily here: Join the Waitlist  Dr. Eve's house call concierge practice: Marigold Veterinary Dr. Eve's training program for veterinarians interested in the house call model:  House Call Vet Academy FOLLOW: Integrative Pet Wellness Center: www.integrativepet.com Integrative Pet Wellness Center on Instagram: @integrativepet Dr. Lily Chen on Instagram: @dr.lilychen Dr. Eve Harrison on Instagram: @the_house_call_vet_academy

  4. Empathy in Action: Holistic Approaches to Relieving Pet Pain

Empathy in Action: Holistic Approaches to Relieving Pet Pain

In this episode, Dr. Lily dives into an important and timely discussion about long-term pain management for pets, addressing the concerns surrounding popular pain injections like Librela and Solensia. While these quick fixes may seem appealing, they come with potential long-term complications and risks that every pet parent should be aware of. We explore what truly moves the needle in pain management by focusing on whole-body wellness and sustainable approaches to healing. Key Topics Discussed: 📍The Importance of Accurate Diagnoses: Why understanding the root cause of your pet’s pain is critical for effective treatment. How conditions like arthritis can lead to secondary pain in other parts of the body. 📍Rethinking Pain as a Signal: Pain as the body’s protective mechanism. The risks of masking pain without addressing the underlying issues. 📍Holistic and Integrative Pain Management Options: Prolotherapy: A powerful injection combining nutrients, homeopathics, ozone, and a tiny amount of cortisol for localized inflammation relief. PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma): Using your pet’s own blood to concentrate healing factors and promote natural repair. Amnion Therapy: Harnessing the regenerative power of stem-cell-rich amniotic fluid for safe and effective healing. 📍Non-Invasive Approaches: The role of thermal imaging in identifying inflammation hotspots. Laser therapy, rehabilitation exercises, and therapeutic massages to alleviate pain and restore balance. Acupuncture as a tool to stimulate the body’s natural healing abilities. 📍The Long-Term Vision: Why addressing the root cause of pain leads to better outcomes for your pet. Building a sustainable care plan with your veterinarian that prioritizes your pet’s individual needs. Takeaways for Pet Parents: Ask your vet about diagnostic tools beyond standard X-rays to get a clearer picture of your pet’s condition. Discuss alternative therapies that target healing rather than just masking pain. Advocate for a care approach that prioritizes your pet’s unique body and lifestyle. This holiday season, give your pet the gift of lasting wellness and comfort by exploring integrative approaches to pain management. 🎙️Have questions about your pet’s pain management options? 5. The magic of mistletoe therapy plus a pet meditation

    12/22/2024

The magic of mistletoe therapy plus a pet meditation

It’s a holiday episode! Mistletoe isn’t just festive—it’s a powerful natural therapy for pets with cancer or chronic inflammation. With immune-boosting and anticancer properties, mistletoe targets cancer cells while sparing healthy ones, something chemo can’t actually do. It works beautifully with chemo or as part of holistic protocol alongside other natural modalities like Vitamin C therapy. And to make this episode extra special, I’ve included a meditation to help you and your pet release the stress of the past year and strengthen your bond. Happy Holidays and Merry Everything from me and the Unicorn Team!  KEY INSIGHTS:  How mistletoe extract has immune-modulating and anticancer properties.  How Dr. Lily is exploring the use of mistletoe for chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.  How mistletoe can even reduce chemo side effects and the many benefits of using mistletoe in combination with chemo or a holistic cancer protocol.   How you can learn to administer mistletoe injections at home.  How mistletoe grows on other “host” plants and takes on some of their properties and why it’s important to choose the right mistletoe for your pet’s personality.  And a special meditation you can enjoy with your pet!  RESOURCES:  The pet meditation starts in 16: 48 mins FOLLOW:  Integrative Pet Wellness Center: www.integrativepet.com  Integrative Pet Wellness Center: @integrativepet  Dr Lily Chen: @dr.lilychen

  6. Re-imaging vet care with Joyce, Wooly's mom

    12/15/2024

Re-imaging vet care with Joyce, Wooly's mom

What if your vet truly listened, made time for your questions, honored your bond with your pet, and supported you emotionally through the vulnerable moments? What if they treated your pet like they were special—not just another dog or cat—and gave you options for their health care? And what if they even honored the deep spiritual bond you have with your pet? That’s the reality I create at my Wellness Center every day. In this heartfelt conversation, Joyce shares how this "less ordinary" environment positively impacted her and her dog, Wooly, in a profound way. We honor Wooly's legacy, and we even dive into a few topics I never speak about publicly. This is my most honest episode yet.  KEY INSIGHTS:  Honoring the deep spiritual connection you share with your pet and how that bond can last beyond them being here.  How deeply it matters to have a vet who is emotionally supportive.  How being treated like you and your pet are special makes a big difference.  How walking into the wellness center felt to Joyce like she was at her favorite spa (a very different experience to any vet clinic she'd been in before). Joyce shares how every pet parent, every family, deserves a vet who really listens to them. How in vet school, you're taught this is the disease, and these are the drug dosages, but when you're out in the world, you realize it doesn't work that way for every pet. Lily and Joyce recognize how pet parents should really feel they are in partnership with their vet.  And how powerful emotional wellness therapies are and how sound bowls with Maria really contributed to Wooly's quality of life.   RESOURCES:  Holistic Oncologist Dr. Trina: https://greennile.org/ You can book with Dr. Trina by emailing info@integrativepet.com FOLLOW:  Integrative Pet Wellness Center: www.integrativepet.com  Dr Lily Chen: @integrativepet @dr.lilychen Joyce (Wooly and Kekoa's mom): @oneripley1
