A fresh of breath air

I formerly attended an Apostolic Pentecostal church for 2 years, but I made the choice to leave after things were not sitting well with me. One of the issues I had was with the choice of “worship” music that gets played. A majority of the songs that get played come from Elevation worship and Bethel music. I didn’t pay so much attention to the lyrics and I had no idea what their respective churches believe in. I was just excited of being in a church family again so I allowed myself to be naive and passive to all this. That was until I came across videos that challenged these worship songs and made me realize what is being said and how the focus of these songs are on ourselves. I felt betrayed as I used to passionately sing these songs with my now former church and I couldn’t believe how no one else noticed. Up to this point, there aren’t many commentators that challenge these “worship” songs. That was until I came across this podcast and I was so relieved to know I wasn’t crazy to be skeptical about this new age worship trend that has hijacked many churches. I, particularly, love when Mackenzie dissects the lyrics of some songs and comments on them with such grace and fairness. I have several songs in mind that I hope she will eventually break down as it is not loving to stand back and let people sing songs that are simply charismatic, secular songs that are more appropriate to play in a concert rather than presenting them as worship to our Holy God. I hope this podcast gains more recognition and encourages people to look at scripture with precision. I am very thankful for Mackenzie Morgan and I applaud her courage in doing this.
An Incredible, Rare, and Necessary Podcast

There are very few experienced and knowledgeable believers on music, worship AND theology, but Mackenzie Morgan is certainly one of them. My wife and I adore her insight, care and wisdom. The body of Christ will ever benefit from her words of kindness and truth as she faithfully expounds our current culture of Christian music and compares it with holy scripture. She even dares to incorporate forefathers (and mothers) of the faith and their theological insight into the music and lyrics that we worship our triune God with. This is the podcast we have long been waiting for.
GREAT!

My husband recently showed me this podcast (on YouTube) and I am hooked! Mackenzie does a wonderful job explaining why certain popular Christian songs are actually unbiblical and deserve at least some more thought from the listener. I love this podcast because I often think about this exact topic of Christian music and how it is our duty as Christians to be more discerning. Currently listening to the “Church Hurt” episode and I resonate with a lot of that. May God bless you and keep you, Mackenzie! Thank you 🩵
I wish we could be friends!

I absolutely love your humor and like many others have said you put words to what I couldn’t articulate. There are bands and churches we know are sketchy to say the least but you give so much insight and back it up biblically. Really appreciate you!
