Love turkey and deer university!
4 сент.
I especially liked episode 321 “food plotting for turkey and deer”. The part on phosphorus preference by deer was fascinating and I will be putting out more on my plots to get my total soil level up as my phosphorus is only at a low to medium rate per acre on my plots. Knowing my cereal grain and clover plots are helpful is good to hear. Y’all are entertaining and exceptionally knowledgeable. I learn something to apply to my family’s land every episode. I’d like of know how to turn 4 acres of property recently (less than 2 year) clear cut pine into brooding cover without fire or removing stumps and forestry trash without heavy equipment. I’ve got grass, some forbs, and brush (rubus, calicarpa, tree saplings) growing. I was thinking broad leaf herbicide applications to undesired plants but would love more input. I can’t burn until 2029 due to a timber lease. I would like to see you talk about warm season plantings for turkeys. I had great success with May planted brown top millet, my turkeys were all over it. You could potentially get a crop of brown top millet on after your crimson has reseeded and before you replant the plot in the fall. Also we are all very interested in a herbicide episode. Specifically for plots: imox, generic pursuit, pendimethalin, treflab, cleth for your broadleaf plots, and plant back concerns for future planning. Also information on hack and squirt and cut stump applications would be very useful. Thanks you gentlemen.

I love Wild Wild Turkey Science. I have learned many specific strategies I can do on my land to improve turkey nesting, brooding and overall habitat communities for wild turkeys. The show has turned my love for turkey hunting into a love for doing everything I can to make my land better for turkeys 365.
Regenerative food plots
20 мая
Great info on all yalls podcasts. I’m a regenerative food plot consultant. I’ve been doing this practice for 10 years. What benefits do turkeys get? It’s the insects stupid. As far as poults navigating the thatch, from my observations they make do. Once you crimp and plant the thatch lays fairly flat. The plant density problem is solved by the type of plant structures you get with the species in your mix.
