Disappointing

As a diehard Purdue basketball fan, and Big Ten basketball fan in general, this podcast has been a disappointment to me so far.

As a diehard Cubs fan and loyal listener of the Cubs Talk podcast, I was super excited to have a new podcast focusing on Big Ten sports. However, this should be called the “Big Ten Country Football Podcast with some dabbling in other sports on occasion.”

It’s one month into the college basketball season and there’s barely been any coverage besides a couple of early season interviews and brief discussion in the past episode. Purdue had a historic run in the Maui Invitational and it wasn’t even addressed, at least based on the podcast descriptions. I read the descriptions and if it’s all football, I skip the episode.

I appreciate that in the last episode you covered several different sports including women’s basketball and volleyball, but in my opinion it’s been way too football heavy. Perhaps there could be a football only podcast, and other sub-podcasts that focus on other sports. For example, James mentioned in the last podcast they were talking to a Big Ten hockey expert about getting involved. I think a hockey-focused podcast would be an excellent thing for Big Ten hockey fans.

I think James is excellent but I don’t feel that Kenneth brings much knowledge, insight or value to the podcast. If you are in the college sports media, I think you should know important things like: star players’ names (instead of “the little point guard on Tennessee”), how to pronounce star players’ names (Dalton Knecht), whether Bijan Robinson was invited to last year’s Heisman ceremony, the years of important Heisman winners (1997 Woodson, 2015 Henry), etc.

I think the podcast has a ton of potential and will continue to give it a chance, but I think some tweaks should be considered.

Terrible take on Minnesota game.

Not sure how many times you need to be told the penalty was NOT for signaling a fair catch!
It was an invalid signal, meaning a dead ball, they let it play out and then it is reviewable! Read the rules carefully. This was also called in a WI/NW game in the past so it is not the first time it was called. Hard to listen to you say over and over he didn’t signal for a fair catch. Unfollowed.
