Letters are often such a joy to get, because they can be personable and you know they took effort and time. Pauls letter to the church in Galatia is the same. He expresses his astonishment that the Galatians have so quickly turned to a different gospel, emphasizing the importance of remaining faithful to the true message of salvation by grace through faith. This Sunday we will discuss Paul’s passionate defense of the gospel and his personal call to serve as an apostle set the stage rest of the letter to the Galatians.

Maybe the most sensitive of topics is giving. It can elicit a joyous “amen” to an angry, “the church just wants money” and everything in between. But do you know what the different responses reveal? The condition of a person’s heart. Jesus said, “Where your treasure is there your heart will be also.” So if you really think about it, giving to God and His kingdom purposes keeps my heart on the right track. I thought about some of the things I’ve done alone. I’ve eaten at restaurants alone. I’ve gone to the movies alone. I have visited churches on vacation alone. I have left home alone to study out of town for two and three days. I have no problem doing things alone…but I wouldn’t want to always do things alone. I found that I am human and need to hang out and do things with others. I need the tighter smaller fellowship. As I’ve studied the scriptures I found that the godhead is a fellowship of Father Son and Holy Spirit. And they invite me into their fellowship. Friends, we need smaller tighter fellowship, Jesus even modeled it with His tight knit group of twelve then three. Today we answer the question of “Why Groups?” I hope to see you there.

Taking a vacation is always fun and relaxing. It is a time to refresh. Vacations contain the element of slowing down and letting others serve us. There is nothing wrong with this, in fact there is a lot right about this. But our life is not a continuous vacation, no matter how much we wish it was. Our life, the life of a follower of Christ is that of a servant. Jesus even said that the greatest people who walk among us are those who live a life of serving others. He added that He did not come to be served, but to serve others. I know that the person who lives a life of serving others, knows the inner gratification attached to serving others. Today I want to look at the question of “Why serve?” I hope to see you there.

We embark on a new series today called, “Belong” This is a timely series due to the reality that technology enables us to, well, cocoon ourselves. We less and less need to be physically present anywhere. That is not always a good thing since we were created to be social beings created by God who is a social being, being part of the Father Son and Holy Spirit godhead. I hope you join us today as we see what the New Testament and especially what Jesus said about being part of a local church.
