Episode #193 - Deluxe Album Reissues Special

Episode #193 - Deluxe Album Reissues Special

This week we bring you breaking news from the Night Demon camp.  Deluxe reissues of the band's back catalog (much of which had been out of print for some time) are available now, freshly remastered and with special bonus tracks, unique packaging and color variants.  All three of Night Demon's first three seminal releases - the self-titled EP, Curse of the Damned, and Darkness Remains - are included in the reissue campaign, and are all being reissued through the band's own Night Demon Records imprint.  (The one exception is that the reissues for Curse and Darkness are being handled in Europe by SPV/Steamhammer Records.)  You will hear why it was so important to the band to reissue their back catalog now in new and improved physical editions.  Armand explains his objectives in remastering the albums.  And Jarvis walks you through the track listings and variants for each title.  You will also hear excerpts from special bonus tracks gracing these editions.

Episode #191 - Raven Tour 2014 - Willie's Wing Shack, Garage Days and Vegas

This week we continue our chronicle of Night Demon's historic 2014 North American run with the mighty Raven.  We pick up the story 10 shows deep, as the tour rolls into California.  You will hear about the humbling challenges and karmic rewards the touring bands faced in playing modest venues in San Marcos and Isla Vista. We unearth raw, powerful audio clips of these performances, including a crushing version of "Road Racin'" into "Ancient Evil." Jarvis explains why Night Demon drove hours out of their way to spend as many nights as possible at home in Ventura.  And he recounts the pitfalls of a door deal show on a Sunday night in Vegas with no hotel rooms to be found.

Behind the scenes with a great band

I got in Night Demon with the release of the “Darkness Remains” album, and the band quickly became a favorite of mine. BUT, you don’t have to be a Night Demon fanatic to enjoy this podcast. Jarvis, Armand and Dusty go into great detail about the process of being a working band, particularly on songwriting and recording. The three-part series on the writing and recording of “Are You Out There?” is like a masterclass on crafting a song. As a fan, and someone interested in the work that goes into being a professional, working band, I’m looking forward to digging into all the deep-dives.
