I've been watching the development of the Switch since Iwata announced that it was called the NX.  I've owned and played nearly every Nintendo console. You can expect three episodes every week about Nintendo and the Switch.  You can expect me to talk about Nintendo News I'll be covering Zelda, Mario, Splatoon, and other franchises from Nintendo both played on the Switch and the 3DS, though mostly the Switch.   I also stream on Twitch at Twitch.tv/runjumpstomp Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/nsc/support

Good not great

First, I want to say, I do like this podcast. I originally rated it 5, but changed it to 4 after several months of listening. What makes this Podcast is that it fills a niche in the many Nintendo podcasts of being done often. That way it is pretty much always up to date on the Nintendo news. That’s really it’s strength. I do recommend it, but I felt it was time to list my complaints, for what it’s worth:

Here is my constructive criticism/peeves with show.

1. There is too much editorializing for my taste on this sort of podcast. It doesn’t fit with the show’s strength/niche. There are tens of podcasts where I can listen to opinions. Sometimes it’s fine to say if you’re excited about a game, but I get tired of hearing when you “don’t care” or aren’t excited about a game coming out and telling the audience it’s okay if we are excited but you aren’t.

2. The host over explains many things that his listeners likely already know. This may be a function of the fact that his daytime job is a school teacher.

3. Many podcast hosts comment on how much time is left in the podcast. I very much dislike this. If you want to end the podcast at 30 minute then just do it, don’t keep talking about how you’re running out of time.

4. Host seems insecure (which I can relate to) with regard to how much of a game he has played, or whether he has played a game. Which causes him to repeat himself often. Comes off as condescending or patronizing.

I know the above probably comes off as rude, but I’m not trying to be mean. those are just some annoyances that sometimes cause me to not be as eager to listen. Perhaps it’s just me.

Solid

Solid Nintendo podcast. I have to say, sometimes I really don’t agree with his opinions BUT Bill remains consistent with dishing out the podcasts week after week. He has grown on me. Always entertaining. Always talks about the news stories you want to hear about. Worth the sub for sure!
