Title: No Nonsense Subtitle: The Autobiography Author: Joey Barton Narrator: Joey Barton Format: Unabridged Length: 10 hrs and 21 mins Language: English Release date: 10-12-17 Publisher: Simon & Schuster Audio UK Ratings: 5 of 5 out of 2 votes Genres: Bios & Memoirs, Celebrities Publisher's Summary: So, you think you know Joey Barton. Think again. No Nonsense is a game-changing autobiography which will redefine the most fascinating figure in British football. It is the raw yet redemptive story of a man shaped by rejection and the consequences of his mistakes. He has represented England and been a pivotal player for Manchester City, Newcastle United, Queens Park Rangers, Marseille, Burnley and Glasgow Rangers, but his career has featured recurring controversy. The low point of being sent to prison for assault in 2008 proved to be the catalyst for the reevaluation of his life. No Nonsense reflects Barton's character - it is candid, challenging, entertaining and intelligent. He does not spare himself in revealing the formative influences of a tough upbringing in Liverpool and gives a survivor's insight into a game which, to use his phrase, 'eats people alive'. The audiobook is emotionally driven and explains how he has redirected his energies since the birth of his children. In addition to dealing with his past, he expands on his plans for the future. In this updated edition he speaks frankly about the gambling addiction that has left him facing a hefty ban. The millions who follow his commentaries on social media and those who witnessed him on BBC's Question Time will be given another reason to pause, and look beyond the caricature. Members Reviews: The best football autobiography Couldn't stop listening to this. Stunningly honest, brutal, inspiring and insightful. A story of a fighter who chose his path, but constantly fought against being pushed down the wrong one. Listen without Prejudice In all fairness I listened to this book expecting my perception ( or should I say the red tops) of Joey Barton to be confirmed as a spoilt overpaid thug who was lucky to succeed in football but Im pleased to admit that nothing could be further from the truth. The book is a very personal account of an intelligent articulate young man blessed with a talent that found fame and fortune early and struggled sometimes with the mindset brought on by both. Having listened to its narration by the author (which adds depth) Joey has shown his ability to survive many trials and tribulations some brought on by himself living life under intense scrutiny. Joey comes across as a good man who has done bad things but they should not define him as many of us have done the same, definitely worth a purchase as long as you listen without prejudice First class Best autobiography I have read by far. The fact Joey narrates it adds a lot. It is a very insightful account of his life and the controversies which we have read about in the press. A must read/listen for any football fan or for anyone who likes a story of an underdog overcoming adversity. Well done Joe, hope your future plans come to fruition. Best Autobiography Yet! From the first word to the last I was hooked, the honesty and passion is there for all to see.
