Noble

In the winter of 2002, police discovered more than 300 bodies on one property in the tiny town of Noble, Georgia. What followed was one of the biggest and most expensive investigations in the history of the American South. To get to the bottom of this forgotten case, journalist Shaun Raviv visits a rural community with plenty of secrets. He discovers the epic history of the well-respected family who owned the property, uncovers the fates of the bodies sent to a crematory called Tri-State, and searches for the mysterious man at the center of it all. And in the process, Shaun explores one of the most primal and vexing questions we face as human beings: What do the living owe the dead? “A gripping, thoughtful, perfectly balanced meditation on death and our relationship to its practicalities” – The New Yorker, Top Podcasts of 2024

Excellent podcast!

I loved this podcast. I think Brent deserves forgiveness. He made mistakes but he paid for those mistakes and has not made any more since. I think he and his family deserve peace. I will pray they receive peace. I will also pray for the families hurt by all this! I don’t believe Brent is a monster in any manner of the word. I think you did a great job humanizing Brent. EXCELLENT reporting! Best podcast I have listened to so far. Thank you for sharing this story. May God grant everyone involved love and peace.

Different

Unique storytelling. And unusual circumstances! Enjoyed podcasting technique, very respectful and unbiased. I still want to respect the deceased and the families. Having a loss through death is difficult enough. The trauma added by this bizzare turn of events would be very unsettling! Especially for those whose bodies were never found! I would constantly feel that loss of not knowing where the missing body went of my loved when. It’s difficult to absolve Brent , without an explanation after all this time. Not sure how he can be a pastor and not to have the capacity to answer for his lies and behavior.
A story that is almost unbelievable..

Truly Interesting!

I love true crime but often get tired of the “same old, same old.” So this was a really nice change of pace. Many in my circle didn’t remember this story but I think post 9/11 it was easily lost! This deep dive was fantastic. Reporting was fair to both sides, thoughtful and well rounded. The folks interviewed were really great. Some reviewers bash the journalist for his “white-guilt”, not a fair depiction to me, but I think his interest in racial angle was a preoccupation at times. The family’s historic background in the area added to the richness of the story, and examining if racism was a factor was important. But once it was well established just how beloved & respected this family was, any sentiments about race rang hollow.
Race Heavy

Very interesting until the last few episodes when it focused on race. It’s inserted ridiculously and had zero to do with the choices the family made. You miss the fact that they were successful in a predominantly white area because the locals aren’t racist. Enough. Stick to the facts.
Astonishing
