Hello, Welcome to your Not So Typical Talk with Marah and Rita. We are two late-diagnosed autistic and ADHD women. We are here to talk about all the ups and downs of life while living on the spectrum. Communication is challenging for us as neurodivergent humans. However, we are here to embrace the awkwardness of socialization so that we can grow and normalize different communication styles. It's okay to be scripted, stumble over your words, forget what you're saying, and process things at a slower pace. We want you to know that your voice is important!

Episode # 7: Our Come Back
Hello Neurodivergent Fam, We're so excited to finally be back at it again! It's been way too long and so much has happened in the past three months for both Rita and I. In today's episode, Rita and I will discuss why we had to take a break. We will also talk about what we've been doing during this challenging time to heal and nurture ourselves, as well as what our plans are for the podcast moving forward. We hope that you'll continue to stick with us. As always, we appreciate the ongoing love and support!

ADHD + Impulsivity
Episode 6 is all about ADHD and Impulsivity! This episode was a super fun and relatable topic to cover this week. Impulsivity is something that we both struggle with in our everyday lives as ADHD human beings in addition to being Autistic. Marah has a son who is ADHD and Autistic, and Rita has her son who is Autistic, and her daughter and husband who are ADHD. When you are both ADHD and Autistic, it can be a challenge to balance all of the many different and sometimes very opposite traits. Being Autistic, we like to be in control and have set routines so that we can more easily function in life. When ADHD blows through with its impulsiveness, Autism runs interference. So if you're also ADHD, we're sure you are well acquainted with its best friend Impulsivity. If your not ADHD, take time to listen to this episode so that you can better understand those of us who are. This is one area that I would really appreciate extra support and understanding with. Especially in relationships!

Episode 4: The Impacts of Social Media
This week's episode is all about our personal experiences with social media and how it has both negatively and positively impacted us as individuals and as a team in working this podcast together. Social media is a huge part of our lives! It's where we met one another, it's how we interact with all of you, and it's where we find our greatest amounts of support. There have been many positives to being a part of an online neurodivergent and disabled community. However, it's important to speak about the negative impacts as well so that we can learn and grow together. Rita and I hope that you enjoy this week's chat! It's our longest chat so far, and it's all unscripted. We are so proud of how things are going.
