I’m a 52 year old woman who’s been alcohol free for 4 years and I am SO glad I stumbled onto this podcast. I usually prefer podcasts with shorter episodes, but the banter between Mike & Nat has really grown on me. Anyone wanting to change their relationship with a substance would benefit from this, but true to the name, those who are middle aged like me will get a real kick out of it.I usually listen to the episodes while I’m out for a walk and often catch myself laughing out loud or smiling nostalgically when they reference things from the 80s. There is such a genuine warmth & relatability about both of them, and I love that they don’t feel the need to agree with each other. Their different perspectives are really helpful in thinking about the different topics they discuss each week. I follow a number of different resources about recovery/sobriety and this has become my favorite due to the awesome way they combine the latest evidence & science with individual human stories. Very grateful for their dedication to this community and the great shows they put out!
A huge help

I rarely review podcast, but when I heard the host mention a few episodes back that they were thinking of either slowing down or giving up on the show entirely, I felt compelled to review this valuable podcast for anyone in recovery. I’m in the age bracket that this podcast targets and one of the things I discovered early on in recovery was how helpful and encouraging it was to find other people sharing stories about the same challenges, fears, and accomplishments that you experienced and recovery. I also share the hosts uncertainty about trying to decide how much you want to wrap your identity around being “a recovery person. I’m 2 1/2 years into my journey, and I am constantly having similar thoughts. But I am certain there are other middle-age listeners of this podcast who are only days or weeks into their recovery and I have to assume that this podcast is as valuable to them as it was and continues to be for me. TLDR: Keep on truckin guys. You’re doing amazing work.
