It's that time of the year between talking season and practices starting. We're here for all of it as we had plenty to talk about on today's edition of the Unofficial 40. The office is alive with the sounds of college football as George Stoia and Eddie Radosevich were playing some NCAA Football in the conference room before the show. What type of league has George got himself roped into? We've had some famous people dropping by the studios lately and Skip Johnson was the latest. Skip stopped by to talk with Eddie about the impressive donation recently given to OU athletics. Josh McCuistion is here with the latest on the recruiting trail as the Under the Stars event takes place this weekend. And as we were doing the pod we found out the news of Nijaree Canady heading to Texas Tech of all places. More recruiting as Josh jumps in on recent defensive line commit Floyd Bouchard. And we talk offensive tackles of course. Roster sizes are also changing with a lot of sports at OU and everywhere else in college. More of this with more of that in this episode of the Unofficial 40.

So much to talk about after the gang returns back from SEC Media Days. Brent Venables seemed different this year as the head coach of the Sooners. And it was in a very good way. We talk about impressions from everything that went down with the Sooners this week and more. And what about the conference-wide reception of the Sooners from everyone in attendance? Are the Sooners being treated like a bunch of poors? We also breakdown what we think might happen in the SEC. We finally reach Josh who has been without power on the outskirts of Houston for days with no idea when he will be back. He finally gets a chance to address Lamont Rogers and talk about the rest of the OL recruiting class the Sooners are chasing. Also just an update on his life. Which is in shambles. As we all ask? Why do you live in Houston??? Big 12 media days have started and it has a feeling some kind of way about change. Although we couldn't be happier to be going to Dallas next week instead of Vegas in 125-degree weather. We'll be there, along with Jackson Arnold, Danny Stutsman, Billy Bowman and Brent Venables. And we're ready to get down to business talking college football. Talking season has arrived. We also talk about the return of Jeremiah Criddell to Oklahoma as a graduate assistant coach.

What a wild start to the pod this week. We welcome in an uninvited visitor that we still don't know a lot about. But Calf Tat Josh was here for the rescue. The first nine minutes of this podcast are frankly, kind of insane. We also introduce you to another visitor this week that knew all about the Unofficial 40. It was a big day on the Unofficial 40 as Joe Castiglione, the father of one half of The Family Business came in studio to talk with Carey and Eddie about a number of topics. We talked about OU's official move to the SEC and the events and celebration taking place July 1 on campus. We also talk about the new arena proposal in Norman after several city council meetings and a planning commission meeting. Why does Castiglione believe Norman needs this project as much as OU does? We also hit on NIL and the new 1Oklahoma Collective. How should OU fans approach giving to NIL with the new collective? And we can't wait to tour Love's Field with everyone else next Monday.
