    On identity, defining Britishness, and the diaspora

    Wrapping up the series, the team wanted to end with a broad reflection, returning back to the core concept of the podcast - intergenerational conversations to develop a better understanding of the Black British experience then, and now.  In this episode, Antonia sat down with her second-cousin Elizabeth Asiegbunam, who was born in Canada, raised in Nigeria and now lives in Canada with her family. Elizabeth and Antonia only met a few years ago on a family trip to Barbados. The trip felt like a reconnection to Bajan culture for both of them, and Antonia was keen to learn more about Elizabeth's sense of cultural identity. They talk about language, history and conceptions of culture from the outside - what is Britishness?     On diversity and inclusion and imposter syndrome

    In this episode, Antonia has a chat with Movell Dash, a diversity and inclusion expert, trained barrister and life coach. She is the founder and director of Modas Personal Development. Movell's daughter and Antonia were friends through ballet class, and despite being a long time family friend, the two hadn’t seen each other in nearly a decade!  Antonia and Movell talk about how diversity and inclusion has become more of a priority for companies after, and why imposter syndrome affects some of us more than others. In the episode, Antonia discovered the many parallels between Movell's relationship with her daughter, and Antonia's relationship with her mum, which made her remember why we all got on so well in the first place.     On education, Black excellence and meritocracy from a teacher's perspective

    Antonia speaks with Isaiah M. Wellington about education from the perspective of a student and an academic. Isaiah is 'on a mission to tell stories about people.' He is a UCL graduate, Amos Bursary Scholar and London Interdisplinary School founding faculty member. He is currently doing a PhD in Oxford. Antonia met him while she was beta-testing his university. Antonia and Jhemar talk about a lot in this episode, covering mentorship, serious youth violence and whether the government is serious in tackling the root causes at hand.     In this new episode, we invite special guest Beverly to discuss what it’s like dating as a Black woman. Beverly talks about social media dating, what it’s like for Black girls and women on reality TV shows and developing your own personal relationship with yourself.   ‘Do they date Black women?’ As Black women, on TV, and in the real world, we are often told that we are undeserving of love. In shows like Love Island or Take me out, we are often the last one that is picked, or told that we are undesirable for one reason or another.
