Best nba pod

If you’re looking for a national nba pod, this is one to listen to. Humorous, knowledgeable and no trolly hot takes. Twice a week almost all year.

Satisfactory, but sliding

I started listening to this pod after reading an SI article during Steph Curry’s breakout 2015-16 campaign. I enjoyed hearing a strong mix of technical analysis and obvious chemistry between the two. Ben in particular is conversant with analytics and “new wave” NBA thinking, which marks a nice foil to Andrew’s more casual, star-gazing perspective.

I still tune in now and then, but I’m increasingly disappointed in the show’s quality. I think this stems from several reasons. The show has acquired a lot of fans - a good thing - but spends increasing time speaking through inside jokes, and referencing positions that one or both of the hosts has taken in the past. For example, what started as informed criticism of DeMar DeRozan’s playoff struggles has turned into what seems like a boring - and times mean spirited - analysis.

To be sure, I think some of this is good: the hosts take the fans seriously and truly enjoy interacting with them, an excellent use of the podcast format.

Overall, there are far too many episodes to justify from a content perspective. I will likely keep listening now and then, but look elsewheee for serious NBA analysis.
