Ep. 149 - Interviews with Adrienne Iapalucci and Bridget Phetasy

In the penultimate episode of Origin of Speakcies, the guys look back at interviews from two of their favorite guests, who also just happen to be ladies. #slayqueen   From Ep. 108 - Moist, comedian Adrienne Iapalucci  (Netflix's The Degenerates, Reader's Digest) shares her worst words and, as always, some great entrepreneurial advice on how to make money with your mouth.   From Ep. 114 - Cultural Appropriation, comedian, writer, and podcaster Bridget Phetasy provides her insight on this topic, in addition to sharing her experience as a yoga instructor,  what it means to be "politically homeless," and the importance of looking at both sides of an issue.  Also, she joins the guys in a new segment - "Find the Cultural Appropriation."   Plus, Steve reads YouTube comments from our viewers, including one from neighbor who's not going to land a husband with that attitude.   And remember, don't miss Episode 150 - the end of Origin of Speakcies.      Adrienne Iapalucci   Listen to Adrienne Iapalucci's full album "Baby Skeletons"   - FOR FREE  - at https://youtu.be/ca07ZBPbtXY.     Support Adrienne directly at http://venmo.com/adrienne-iapalucci - or - http://Paypal.me/BabySkeletons   Twitter - twitter.com/aiapalucci   Instagram - instagram.com/adrienneiapalucci   More at adrienneiapalucci.com     Bridget Phetasy   Phetasy Rumble Channel - https://rumble.com/c/phetasy     Substack - bridgetphetasy.substack.com/   More at Phetasy.com

    Ep. 148 - Misanthrope

The guys discuss the origin of the word that describes a person who dislikes and avoids other people - misanthrope.   Scott and Steve discuss how a play from French playwright Moliere helped to popularize the term and ponder what it means to be an  Imaginary Cuckold (while dying of tuberculosis). On the "Origin of Eatcies" segment, the guys talk with Ron Romano of the McRib and Me podcast about everyone's favorite  restructured pork - the McRib! And, finally, Steve explores the life and career of one of his all-time favorite writers and (self-proclaimed) misanthropes - Miss Florence King.  Most importantly - don't ever, ever FaceTime anyone at 8 AM on a Monday.   McRib and Me Subscribe to the McRib and Me podcast at YouTube and your favorite podcast provider.  Follow McRib and Me on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/mcribandme/   Speakcies Merchandise The Origin of Speakcies merch store, powered by TeePublic, is now live! Ep. 145 - Kale

In this very, very special episode, learn the origin of Steve's hated nemesis. That's right, the true story of the real Devil's weed, the cabbage of Cthulhu, the pubes of Satan - Kale! Scott and Steve discuss the etymology of the word, it's connection to Pizza Hut and Scotland, if it truly possesses its touted health benefits, and how one person (spoiler: It's not John Cougar Mellencamp) is responsible for transforming this evil garnish from the "poor man's spinach" to a "superfood" consumed by white women everywhere. Also, keeping with the food theme, on the "Origin of Eatcies" segment, the guys play "Food Mascots: Real or Fake," where you will learn about the imagined romantic connection between Aunt Jemima and the Quaker Oats guy. And, perhaps most importantly, is kale from the Devil? There is only one way to learn the answer. Speakcies Merchandise The Origin of Speakcies merch store, powered by TeePublic, is now live! Ep. 144 - Jump the Shark

Down some Allegra, grab your Puffs+ lotion, and join Scott and Steve as they discuss the origin and meaning of the phrase, "Jump the Shark," which gives them ample time to talk about one of television's greatest characters of all time: Arthur Herbert Fonzarelli, also know known as "Fonzie."   Next up on New Slang, Steve dives into the fascinating world of "Paraben-Free" lotion, conditioner, body butter, and more as he discusses his daily beauty regimen and how "parabens" may or may not play into it.   The show concludes as the guys discuss examples of tv shows jumping the shark, including a disturbing episode of Diff'rent Strokes, an unnecessary death on The Simpsons, and, of course, The Love Boat.   Listen now to the very special episode, paraben-riddled episode of Origin of Speakcies to find out the connection between Steve's childhood bathroom habits and The Fonz. Ep. 143 - Motel and Corn Flakes

Pack your bags and gas up your car. Scott and Steve take you on a journey to explore the origin and history of the word "Motel." On their way, the guys travel the byways and highways (and later Interstates) of the US, and also discuss how both Holiday Inn and South of The Border emerged from the motel movement, plus the effect from the birth of the Interstate Highway in 1956 on motels. In the "Origin of Eatcies" segment, Scott discusses the true story behind "Corn Flakes," which involves Dr. John Kellog's quest to end America's epidemic of indigestion ... and baitin'. Finally, the guys take a break from yelling at clouds to discuss their lawns and New Balance shoes. Be quiet, or I will pull this car over! Listen to this episode of Origin of Speakcies today.
