Parallel Pictures Podcast

This week we’re talking about the films The Fall and Seven Psychopaths.

The Fall is a 2006 American film, directed by Tarsem Singh and shot by Colin Watkinson. While both recovering in the hospital in 1920s Los Angeles: Alexandria, a young girl who broke her arm working in the orange grove, forms an unlikely friendship with fellow patient Roy, a stuntman who broke his legs in an on-set accident, as her regales her with an epic tale of five fantastical outcasts. Due to Roy’s nihilistic state and Alexandria’s optimistic imagination, their story takes a turn that leads to real-life consequences.

Seven Psychopaths is a 2012 American film, directed by Martin McDonagh and shot by Ben Davis. When Marty, an alcoholic screenwriter, is struggling with a severe case of writer’s block, his overly-imaginative best friend Billy tries to set the stage for inspiration. By playing out a fictitious tale, Billy inadvertently upends Marty’s world, effectively blurring the line between movies and real life.
