Parenting after Losing RHE w/ Dan Evans

Parenting after Losing RHE w/ Dan Evans

So many of us grieved the loss of Rachel Held Evans. She was the best-selling author of several books and a hugely influential figure shaping a generation of discourse around faith. When she died in 2019 at the age of 37, we each had to cope with that grief in our own personal way.

Holy Troublemaking & Raising Strong-Willed Children with Daneen Akers

Love and justice will only arise when we unite with those who are different from us. People with diverse backgrounds, faiths, and even beliefs have the power to come together and create something beautiful. However, if we surround ourselves only with those who are identical to us, we will never reach the same heights.

Kids & Aunties Sew Masks with Kristina Wong

Masks have become a polarizing political symbol in our society this year. Opinions on them have changed and developed throughout the entirety of COVID-19, but they are still quite divisive. Depending on our backgrounds, experiences, and personal perspectives, we all view this tiny piece of cloth in a different way. That is why I wanted to have a conversation today with my friend and repeat guest, Kristina Wong.

The Science of Parenting with Amy and Jeff Olrick

The Science of Parenting with Amy and Jeff Olrick

It’s easy to forget that our kids are people too. They have just as much humanity as we do and yet we place so many limits on them. We have to understand that kids experience the same amount of stress we experience. They just lack the brain development to express it in a way we can understand. In today’s episode, we discuss all of this and more.

Intersectionally progressive faith

Full disclosure - I'm a guest on one of the episodes.

Cindy works hard to boost voices from marginalized and under-represented groups. She keeps her focus on how we can raise our children with acceptance and gentleness as fully loved humans. She sets a great example for parents, educators, and faith leaders, and for the kids who will soon step into these roles.

I’ve never felt more seen in my life

Like many post-evangelicals, the deconstruction process of my faith has been lonely, guilt-inducing, and isolating. It is so hard to peel off layers of your faith that have been with you for so long and feel like home, even though you know in your heart it’s wrong. Within the first few minutes of listening to Cindy’s podcast, I was moved to tears in finding someone who was able to put my feelings into words. She has introduced me to a community, faith leaders—a whole movement of people living out progressive Christianity. I’m so so thankful for Cindy’s voice. I feel hopeful about Christianity for the first time in a long time. Cindy, I can never thank you enough for the work that you do. I’ve shared your podcast with everyone I know. You’re a gift to us all.
