Smart, friendly and fun!
I love getting the scoop on Texas and national politics from Brandon and Jerónimo. Their commentary is insightful and my favorite way to catch up what’s happening in the lone star state.
Best Politics Podcast
Great coverage of local and national politics, the people and the ideas. Seems fair to both sides, and isn’t some “talking heads” show, feels more like a college lecture of “here are the facts, you decide”. Makes sense since they’re both college professors!
The jury's still out...
I heard about this podcast when it was mentioned on my favorite podcast, "The World and Everything In It," so, I thought that I'd give it a listen. I listened to Episode 111: Fundraising Update and while I generally enjoyed the information, I was taken aback by a couple of comments that were definitely NOT unbiased: 1) when referring to the direction of the GOP in the future, it was disparaging to hear the party painted as xenophobic. Seriously?! 2) While discussing the homeless situation (street camping, used needles scattered about, etc.) in Austin, the governor & lieutenant governor's position was colored as uncompassionate & heartless. No consideration or speculation was given to organizations outside of the public sphere as part of a solution to the problem. Homelessness is indeed a challenging social problem; public policy alone will not offer the homeless population hope for living a life with dignity nor will a "compassionate" public policy protect the general population from health hazards and potential danger of long term and expanding homeless camps. I'll continue to listen but if the hosts continue to lean to the left, I'll look for other more unbiased news outlets.
