Pints with Jack: The C.S. Lewis Podcast

This is a very enjoyable and informative podcast. Oh, and the one host is really great!

I love this podcast. I listen to multiple episodes at a time and though I don’t always agree w their analysis of a text, I appreciate the thoughtfulness and love they have for Lewis. There is but one thing that makes me turn off an episode and that is David’s unrelenting snark. That it doesn’t seem to phase Matt is the only reason I know David means well. But really, David is constantly insulting Matt, putting him down and puffing up his own ego. I’m still only in Season 3, maybe it gets better. I hope so. As someone who uses my own intellect as a defense mechanism, I know what a trap this kind of snarkiness and unrelenting “joking” can be. Screwtape extols its virtues, and I try to catch myself every time, but often miss. One of my favorite podcasts despite this. Well worth the listen.

I came across Pints with Jack in mid-September when I was looking for something on Vanauken’s “A Severe Mercy.” I was hooked immediately! Since graduating college in 2000, I have been a fan of Lewis. I am no scholar but an amateur of lesser standing than Matt and David. Since finding the podcast, I have listened to all the seasons except TWHF. Sorry Andrew, I have not read that one yet ;). I love the interactions of the hosts. I love the thoughtful commentary and practical insights for Christian discipleship. The many extra shows with experts and other Inklings devotees are wonderful! Thank you for all the time you three and the others behind the scenes help put in to create and deliver such wonderful content! God bless as you continue to go “Further up and further in!”
