Plank Holder of Delta Force | Wade Ishimoto | Ep. 317

Wade Ishimoto was born in Hawaii shortly before the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. He enlisted in the US Army in 1961and retired 20 years later. His military career saw him serving as a Military Policeman, a counterintelligence agent, a human intelligence case officer, and 14 years in Special Forces. Among his notable assignments were as the Project Gamma Operations Sergeant during the Green Beret Murder case in 1969, Special Force School Instructor of the Year in 1974, a founding member of the Delta Force, and leading a roadblock team on the fateful 1980 attempt to rescue 53 American hostages in Iran (Operation Eagle Claw). After his military retirement, he served on the investigation of the Branch Davidian incident, the Khobar Towers bombing, was the Senior Advisor to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations, and a Special Assistant to the Deputy Undersecretary of the Navy. He is a Distinguished Senior Fellow with the Joint Special Operations University, a Distinguished Member of the Special Forces Regiment, and was inducted into the Special Operations Command Commando Hall of Honor. He is the principal investigator for the US Department of Defense Minerva-funded program studying how the United States can improve foreign military training. Lieutenant Colonel Jahara “FRANKY” Matisek, PhD, (@JaharaMatisek) is a military professor in the national security affairs department at the United States Naval War College, research fellow with the European Resilience Initiative Center, and United States Department of Defense Minerva co–principal investigator for improving United States security assistance. He has published over one hundred articles and essays in peer-reviewed journals and policy-relevant outlets on strategy, warfare, and security assistance. He is a command pilot that was previously associate professor in the Military and Strategic Studies Department at the United States Air Force Academy. Best Military and National Security Podcast

I listen to both the Team House and Eyes On upon receipt. These are the best military podcasts on the air. I really like how the hosts can engage in honest, self critical analysis while still supporting and encouraging service. Nothing comes across as driven by agendas or axes to grind. What I like most is that they spread the love with guests from all backgrounds of service, not just SEALs or GB’s. It’s pretty inspiring to hear cool stories from intelligence, CA, and civilian agencies. Really great resources for anyone interested in military, national security and foreign affairs.

The sound quality on the Aleppo episode is atrocious, all 3 panelists/hosts sound like they’re using Fisher Price equipment. No excuse for such poor sound when the ads somehow ring out loud and clear.
