Episode 62 – Hocus Pocus

This week we finish up our Spook-tacular Halloween coverage with the cult classic Hocus Pocus. We also have a special guest joining us who specifically asked to be on the show this week. Hocus Pocus is an odd and interesting film for many reasons. At the time of it’s release the film did not do well in the theater nor with the critics. But in the decades since, it has continued to have both strong DVD sales, AND strong ratings when aired on television. So what gives? How could such a popular and beloved film have done so poorly upon it’s initial release? Perhaps the better question, is whether the film is deserving of it’s current status as a halloween cult classic. All three of us have been partaking in the yearly Hocus Pocus ritual for years just like all of you. Is that because of our rose tinted glasses or is this movie truly a fun and well made family halloween movie? Grab a listen with us and find out!

After three centuries, three witch sisters are resurrected in Salem, Massachusetts on Halloween night, and it is up to two teenagers, a young girl, and an immortal cat to put an end to their reign of terror once and for all.
