Hoopsnakes Kels gone bush - The Podcast

    • Comedy

When I was growing up , I'd heard the legends of what dangers lurked in the bush , waiting to kill unsuspecting humans. Dropbears , Yowies , Bunyips and Hoopsnakes . Most people think they are made up , however I am here to tell you Hoopsnakes are very real. Just maybe not as deadly as legend would have it. (On a side note - I'm wondering who decided that Australian wildlife wasn't scary enough that they had to make up a few more deadly creatures to scare the general public ? Like hello, man eating crocodiles aren't enough ?) In this episode I tell you the story of my encounter with a real live Hoopsnake (aka Bandy Bandy ) and the origins of my spider phobia ( sorry Mum) * I have to add here that 30 years later my mother is now living on the land and has no qualms taking on a brown snake let alone a spider *

I did say I was going to talk a bit about my nudists neighbours but I will leave that particular snake story for another episode !

For more crazy stories of my struggle to survive in the bush you can find my book here : https://www.hachette.com.au/kellie-arrowsmith/skimpy-the-funniest-book-you-ll-ever-read-about-the-northern-territory
