Plus Three

Plus Three dives deep into the world of drugs, from local decriminalization and emerging psychedelic corporations to leftist politics and mass incarceration. Each week the team and guests attempt to make sense of the complex connections between drugs, science, capitalism, policy, and culture. The podcast is co-hosted by Psymposia co-founder Brian Normand, psychedelics research and bio-ethicist Nese Devenot, evolutionary ecologist Brian Pace, and underground researcher David Nickles.
essential listening

the antidote to corporate whitewashed sanitised optimised psychedelia. this podcast looks at psychedelic history, research, and culture through a post-colonial lens, delivering you nuanced hot takes that you sure ain’t getting from Michael Pollan or Joe Rogan.
How do I contact?
02/07/2024
I tried to contact this group on their website but every link I click takes me to the email app I already have and won’t let me send an email because it is a different version of the app? Also, they make a statement on their website that anything you say can and will be used against you? They are making it very hard to send any tips or feedback? I am not on social media.
Great Content - However,…

With all the hype about using psychedelics as an effective tool for better mental health, this is an excellent transparent resource. It’s hard hitting, which I love. So your mind needs to reside in a good space while listening to the graphic details. However, if you want full access to Psymposia’s website, a barrage of notifications for donations prevents you from navigating. I understand completely that productions need money. Though it feels hypocritical to me when a “nonprofit” organization is so aggressive about obtaining funding. Especially when you restrict the freedom of obtaining valid information. Hence, the four stars.
Great idea, but not engaging

I really really really want to like this podcast, but I can’t stay focused on it. It’s rambling and doesn’t seem planned. So far each episode I listen to requires a lot of prior knowledge of some specific talk/show/writing that they don’t bother to reference clearly or debrief the listener on.
Always look forward to it

Nothing wrong with keeping those dishes clean. Can’t pin point how I came across psymposia, but I’m glad that moment happened :)
Necessary counterbalance to psychedelic utopianism
06/09/2021
A great counterbalance to overly-utopian psychedelia! They explore the capitalist “setting” in the “set and setting” mantra, which is refreshing because this setting often goes unnoticed and uncommented upon as the mainstreaming of psychedelics pushes aside critical voices in a single-minded attempt to make quick cash.
Crucial voice in psychedelics
05/13/2021
A must listen for anyone who is interested in current discourse on psychedelics—underground, in the research establishment, and in the treatment room.
One of the best podcasts on psychedelics!

I am always excited when another episode comes out!
Keep fighting the good fight

I've been engaged in psychedelic research and clinical practice for several years now and y'all have saved me from the brain melting boredom that I get from the majority of podcasts and other media forms that discuss past, present and future perspectives on psychedelic use. I don't even necessarily agree with everything each one of you claims but you structure the podcast in such a way that, if they're paying attention, listeners are actually encouraged not to do so! This is where the much needed creativity in your critiques comes in- that we all need to push these boundaries and challenge forces that be in an experimental and vigorous way that's grounded in evidence but isn't suffocated by pop science. Onwards and upwards friends.
Not the best

Psychedelics should not be a platform used to spew far left crap about white supremacy, and the inherent evils of whiteness. We get enough of that on the news. Why not stick to drug policy, psychedelics, visionary states? Constant bashing of capitalism and espousing misguided far left tropes is hilariously phony when you have a patreon page asking people to give money. Also, That hit piece on Martin Ball was over the top, just slightly. Should have wrote it about Cuomo.
