We know the Big Tech algorithms behind the feeds are optimised to press our buttons. The best button-pressers being feed items that are short, sharp and shocking. Nuance, complexity and accuracy be damned. Unfortunately, as the old saying goes:

A lie will go round the world while the truth is pulling its boots on.
