Develop This Hopeful Habit
The Hopeful Habit
There is one thing that shows up when we encounter challenge and uncertainty when we are struggling through adversity and pining for something positive to happen, and that's hope. Hope is an optimistic state of mind that is based on the belief that there can be a positive outcome. It's a mindset that leads to greater resilience, well-being, persistence, and creativity--but it emerges first during some of our most challenging moments.
When we choose to be hopeful we are more likely to find the silver linings and possibilities that can help move us through the adversity.
Hopeful people tend to be positive, open, and more likely to take optimistic actions that can help them cope. And we can cultivate those qualities to live a more hopeful life. Does it eliminate disappointment and upset? No way, but it does help us manage it. And it starts when we focus on what we can control.

Ep. 215 Find Your Way Through Brain Fog
Welcome to the 5th Season of Polly Campbell, Simply Said. Thanks for listening. I love doing the show, sharing these ideas, and connecting with you. Thanks for being a part of our community. -pc
Have you misplaced your car keys lately, forgotten to return an email, missed an appointment, or have a hard time making decisions? Yep, sounds like Brain Fog, the absentmindedness when we often experience when we are under stress, feeling isolated, tired, or uncertain. It's no surprise that as we reemerge into the post-pandemic normal, many of us still feel spacey at times, forgetful, and inattentive. That can chip away at our productivity at work and leave us feeling a little off-balance and frustrated. In today's episode, Polly Campbell talks about the science-based approaches we can use to end the brain fog and feel better, more grounded, and more productive.
Want some quick tips?
Get moving. If you can get outside for a walk or stretch, but don't get caught behind your desk all day. Movement improves blood flow which carries oxygen to our brains and that helps us think straight. Or at least straighter.
Be kind to yourself. Putting yourself down after a blunder or moment of forgetfulness isn't going to help your attention any, instead, it will add to your stress.
Take a break between work and home. Even if you are working from a home office, you might want to add in some commute time before transitioning back.
On this episode of Polly Campbell Simply Said, Polly explains what's behind those feelings that cause us to feel foggy and unfocused and the simple things we can do in our days to end it.
