Post Election Stress Disorder: Remaining Connected Despite the Division Ep. 328

Love & Life with Dr. Karin & Pastor Elliott

The election is behind us, but the division remains.

And, the demonstrations are just getting going. Movements like 4B and Blue Bracelets express rage at men and Trump voters in general.

Women are swearing off sex, shaving off their hair, and wearing bracelets to signify to each other who is “safe” to be around.

Can we possibly remain connected during this volitile time?

I think we can 🙏🏻

And, to navigate these rough waters, I share some thoughts and tools from psychotherapy that could be helpful.

Specifically, we cover:

  • How to remain grounded in empathy—especially when friends see your vote as an attack on their values and the people they care about.
  • Techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help us identify cognitive distortions that aren’t serving us.
  • Why emotional cutoffs tend NOT to be the solution!

Whether you’re happy with the results or deeply disappointed, your relationships have likely been impacted.

Please join us for strategies to move through Post Election Stress Disorder!
