Pretending With Dice

As a long time D&D player, I know how the game tends to have peaks and lulls. AJ and the crew do an excellent job of editing to keep the pace moving without making it feel pressured or unnatural. There’s a great balance of action/spell explanation for new players or listeners and player driven story. The format keeps things fresh without being jarring. All in all, I am thoroughly enjoying Pretending With Dice and I can’t wait to see how it continues to grow and change! *edit* A year after my first review, I am entirely caught up with PWD and anxiously await each new episode. One of my favorite things about Pretending With Dice is the variety of systems and settings that get played throughout. It isn’t just Dungeons and Dragons or Pathfinder…There are so many different ttrpgs and PWD does a fantastic job of showcasing that variety. Happy 100 episodes, PWD! Looking forward to many more!

I started the podcast with their call of Cthulhu run. The sound quality is great. Production is very nice. And it’s so fun to listen to the cast and the keeper really delve into the system. They also have episodes about other gaming topics and have played in other systems. Highly recommended!

These guys really take the time to make top notch audio quality along with wonderful background scene music. The dialogue is easy to follow and paints an amazing picture as you follow along with a clever story. I would say start from the beginning episodes for more detail and understanding of what is going on with the story, but honestly I jumped right into the latest episode and followed along without any problems at all. Definitely going to go back and listen to a lot more episodes. Hilarious!
