In this episode, we are honored to have Rachel Reese, a seasoned facilitator and consultant dedicated to fostering trans and non-binary inclusive workplaces. Rachel's journey is nothing short of extraordinary. She began her career as an avionics software engineer and later transitioned into the legal sector, passing the Law Society Solicitor's Finals exam in the 90s. During her time at the College of Law, Rachel courageously transitioned, despite the immense challenges of being out and trans in the professional world at that time.

Rachel's commitment to inclusion led her to co-author the Lloyds of London Trans and Non-Binary Guide in 2019, a groundbreaking document that received widespread acclaim. In 2015, she founded Global Butterflies, an award-winning trans and non-binary inclusion training company, and established the Global Butterflies Independent Charity Fund to support trans and non-binary organizations both in the UK and internationally. Her advocacy has earned her numerous accolades, including being named a Pride Inclusion Advocate by Pride Life Global and receiving the Chamber's Crystal Award alongside her wife, Emma.

Throughout this episode, Rachel shares her deeply personal and professional journey, highlighting the resilience and advocacy that define her work. She discusses the importance of mental health and the role of yoga, meditation, and nature in her life, emphasizing how these practices enable her to be a more effective campaigner and trainer.

We also delve into the current landscape of trans and non-binary rights in the UK, exploring the challenges and setbacks faced by the community. Rachel provides a thoughtful analysis of how political and social dynamics in the UK and the US influence the fight for equality. Her perspective sheds light on the intersectionality of trans rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and women's rights, underscoring the necessity of solidarity and collective action.

Rachel's story is a testament to the power of inclusion and the impact of dedicated advocacy. Her work continues to inspire and drive meaningful change in organizations and communities worldwide.
