    50. Amobi Okugo: A Frugal Athlete

    Join us as we talk with professional soccer player Amobi Okugo.


    Amobi is a professional soccer player and the founder of the financial-literacy company A Frugal Athlete. He was drafted after his freshman year at UCLA into Major League Soccer as part of the 2010 Generation Adidas Class. He has amassed over 200 appearances in all competitions professionally and has been honored to represent the United States national team program at various youth levels, including the 2012 Olympic squad.


    Amobi Okugo was born in Hayward, California, to Nigerian immigrants and is the oldest of four siblings. He holds a Masters in Sports Law in addition to a Bachelor's Degree in Organizational Leadership and Development with a minor in Business Administration. Besides sports, his other interests include business, entrepreneurship, and marketing.

    Listen as our guest Breanna Barksdale, a former student-athlete who played volleyball at Auburn University with an illustrious career, shared her life as an athlete and how she transitioned to other paths after that.


    As a former student-athlete, Breanna is consistently in the gym working on her health; mental, physical, and emotional. She shares her love for health and fitness while serving as a personal coach, inspiring men and women to live a healthy and active lifestyle. When Breanna is not at work or in the gym, she is pursuing her MBA at UCLA Anderson to fulfill her purpose of giving back to the community.


    She is dedicated to continuing the legacy of her late grandfather, UCLA Alum, All-American, and Hall of Fame Enshrinee, Don Barksdale, through non-profit high school sport assistance programs. Breanna lives by his famous words, “Give everything your best effort and believe in yourself.”

Prince, your show should be a prerequisite for JR high and high school kids. Information parents and athletes (kid) should listen to together. Thank you for knowing this information is priceless. Kudos to you!

I love Prince’s show Game Beyond the Game: Talk that Talk! The interviews are intentional and genuine. Prince does his due diligence to identified the right topics and deliverers to share a message that is universal- “discover your overall purpose.”
