Psychoanalyzing The Fall of the House of Usher

I guess if you read a bunch of Poe like I do you could figure out the jester was from The Cask of Amontillado, along with the song Another Brick in the Wall and a shot of the wall. Someone got buried in there, I assumed by the Ushers in 1980. I assumed Verna was Raven jumbled up and she had a bird mask at the funeral. I thought she was the herald of death to a horrible criminal family but didn’t guess the deal. But it makes sense that there is a deal so none of the Ushers even get caught in their crimes until the end. It makes sense if Roderick was the patriarch that he couldn’t kill himself and his sister would still live even without eyes or if he tried to take her organs out like an Egyptian funeral…I thought that is what he did…until he died and the curse ended. I do wish that Annabel Lee died of malaria, maybe helping overseas to those less fortunate because that would go more with the poem of the wind chilling her and disease killing her. Then she would have died a better way, not by her own hand. Maybe fighting against Roderick’s machine in a way. I thought someone shot her, maybe him until people said suicide but she didn’t have powder on her mouth. Seems like foul play. Anyway, love your podcast. Never saw the Patient, but it looked great. It’s amazing all the cool crew members you got from Usher to be on this!

I was really looking forward to some analysis of the show, but found myself spending more time skipping over rambly interviews than anything else. How does one go from a career in skateboarding to a career in movie makeup? What is it like being a film editor? Interesting if that’s your thing, but really boring if you wanted to hear about the meaning and interpretations of the show.

Look forward to listening to this podcast nearly as much as I look forward to the new episode of The Patient!

I thoroughly enjoyed the interviews with the crew; however, this show barely tackles psychoanalysis. Unfortunately, the title is highly misleading, so I cannot recommend this show for people interested in psychology.
