United Methodist Church

This story is not well researched. To say the Book of Discipline is homophobic is short-sided. The host has obviously never read it and knows very, very little about this subject. Yes- some people are homophobic in the church- no surprise there- we have small minded homophobic individuals in every organization in America. It is time for those people to go. They do not represent the majority. Unfortunately, this is another situation of the bigoted minority giving the majority a bad name. The majority of Methodists prefer to follow the words of the Book of Discipline that make it clear we believe all people are valued and welcome. The majority of us realize that the statement about homosexuality being incompatible was a statement about the times when it was first written. Confusion and ignorance over anti-gay teachings from The Bible forced the church to say it was incompatible. At the time they felt they had to say it or be accused of not believing The Bible. A majority of Methodists now acknowledge a different interpretation of scripture so we can happily say that language should be removed. Now, it is hoped that the leadership will do the right thing. This podcast was unprepared, insufficiently researched, and poorly executed.

Stonewall. Not at all.

Episode Stonewall. As a first time listener I was completely shocked, sort of stunned - and kept listening- to the poor uneducated host on this topic. Seriously. How many umm and sighs should one beat with real questions. On history. It’s PRIDE month and there are legacies being honored. But this feels like it was odd and off.

Stop swallowing in the mic

Listened to the stonewall episode. It felt unorganized and this person doesn’t seem like they have a background in reporting information through podcast. Also - the speaker keeps swallowing really loudly in the mic and it makes my skin crawl. It’s so distracting. Do they have an extra moist mouth?
