I’m Now a Dad
Great daily BC podcast for all the sickos out there. The advertisements during the show are a problem though. At AJ Black’s recommendation, I purchased a pair of Birddogs shorts. I didn’t realize what an effect it would have on my wife and now I’m an expecting father. Recommend skipping AJ’s ad readouts as they are a PROBLEM!
Good BC Football Coverage
AJ definitely does a good job covering BC football. He provides news updates and opinions based on his own research. I also appreciate the daily frequency. The podcast also includes other BC sports. However, AJ could spend more time discussing basketball and hockey in particular. Unfortunately, I find myself fast forwarding through a ton of ads each episode. I think that may just be a Locked On thing, and not AJ’s fault.
Terrible Spokesman for BC Athletics
It’s hard to even consider this a podcast, because almost half of the roughly 20 minutes of each episode is spent doing ad reads for cheap products or shilling for online sportsbooks. Not to even mention he has to plug his own paywall website multiple times an episode as well.
Once he actually gets to talking BC Athletics, you’ll think you’re listening to the same episode on repeat, because it’s the same football talk recycled constantly. BC has dozens of athletic programs, most of which are far more successful than the football team, but you’ll rarely hear about any of them on this podcast.
AJ is particularly dismissive and condescending when it comes to BC’s women’s teams. I’ve seen others try to inquire as to why he won’t cover these programs, and he’ll always give a snarky remark about how he couldn’t care less about the school’s female athletic programs.
For example, BC is bringing in elite freshman and transfers for their various women’s teams, especially for hockey, field hockey, and lacrosse. Each of these teams has a legitimate chance at making a deep postseason run in their upcoming seasons. AJ has not spent one second covering any of these teams all summer. Even while lacrosse was making their sixth consecutive national title game appearance this past spring, AJ proudly gloated about how he couldn’t even be bothered to learn the basics of the game or learn player names or positions.
Overall, this is a lazy, repetitive podcast that’s filled with tons of ad reads, and AJ’s lack of knowledge for every BC program outside of football is beyond pathetic from the self-proclaimed “eagle insider.”
