RAD AF Episode 1: Meet Lian and Joy from Khmer Girls in Action RAD AF - Radical AF (USA)
-
- Society & Culture
It’s time to recognize the “Radical” among us. Radicals represent reforms and change for the people, by the people. They hold strong convictions close, and advocate for fundamental transformation with direct action–often putting their minds, bodies, and spirits on the line for true justice. This is the first episode of Rad AF – a podcast that amplifies the stories of our Long Beach area radical change-makers. This year, we talk to radical women…the community organizers, grassroots movement builders, and leaders who give a f*ck about mobilizing people-power to make positive change in the community. The revolution might not be televised, but you sure can find a way to join it online or in person in a neighborhood near you.
Meet Lian Cheun and Joy Yanga from Khmer Girls in Action (KGA) in Episode 1, recorded in the spring of 2021. They share their stories about working in the Bay area, how they met, how family and culture impacted them individually, as well as recall their experiences growing up as girls in their cultures. Today they are instrumental in leading powerful grassroots organizing with young women in the Long Beach area.
